Rockman, you and me are in similar fix. I’m now gaming in the MacBook primarily so that I avoid the evil eye and nagging from the lady. She thinks I’m doing serious work! Lol. My first choice of games or those I backed in Kickstarter would be those that have a Mac version. Unfortunately Drakensang does not. Maybe I should seriously consider dual boot or getting Parellels but what’s stopping me is the damn integrated gfx intel crap they put as gfx. My current PC is at least 5 year old!

You can try the HTPC route…sneak a gaming PC in front of your TV.

Ha ha, worse… Gaming on TV is so obvious!

Oh dear. My sympathies. You might have to play handhelds now…

Steam deal of the day is Sword of the Stars: The Pit for $4.99 (50% off).
It’s a…roguelike?

@Rock8man:
Expectations for price and performance vary of course, but I switched to mid-range ‘gaming’ laptops a few years ago and I’ve been quite happy. If you spend $1,000 you can get a nice laptop that can play basically all current games on high or very high settings, but if you want to go a bit cheaper, Lenovo sometimes sells laptops with decent mobile GPUs for $600-700.

Agreed. I got a Lenovo Y580 about a month ago on sale for around $800 and it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it with aplomb. You can definitely find ones with acceptable performance in the $600+ range, which should be nothing to blink at if you guys have been using Macs.

Yeah, it’s a roguelike. Very nice little game! Instead of running around with a sword or knife, you can just shoot everything!

It’s an excellent rogue-like.

As posted in the Android games thread, today’s Amazon Appstore free app of the day is Rebuild. http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011

Should i pick up all the DLC for Civ V while it’s on sale for 12.00 @ amazon

Does it really add a lot to the game? I’m still enjoying the base game so maybe I’ll hold off?

Rebuild has been permanently installed on my tablet for a while. What an awesome game.

Ditto. Totally agree.

100% agreed. I love trying out all the paths to victory.

Yes.

Don’t. G&K greatly improves the game.

The other DLC just adds a few maps and one civilization at a time, neither of which makes that much impact, although the civs at least have unique powers that may tilt how you play a bit.

Not sure where to put this, but the current game music bundle has 20 game soundtracks for $10 bucks. Most are retro PC games duke nukem, jazz jackrabbit, myst, 7th guest, etc. All told there is just under 2 gigs of music there.

This week’s humblebundle sale is Telltale Games goodness, including all of the Walking Dead and Back to the Future episodes.

Holy crap. Not bad.

Nice. The average is still under $4 for The Walking Dead. Guess I could’ve saved a whole 6 bucks by waiting a week. I’m only on episode 2.

That’s quite a bundle. Wish it had Jurassic Park, but I sure can’t complain about that deal.

edit: Found out on reddit. You only get one key that contains all the non-Walking Dead games, so pwyw with that in mind.

Sherlock Holmes bundle running at groupees. 100% for charity:

Some are hidden object games (got them for my mom, she liked the hound so far), others point & click adventures. 6k bonus freebie is apparently the best of the bunch.

I snagged this this morning, and so far it’s awesome. It’s also huge if you want the FLAC soundtracks, at around 8 gigs for everything. Totally worth $10 if you like gaming music.
