Primordia is around 120 sales from being included in the Be Mine 8 bundle, just a heads up!

Ok, so the combat is not difficult. That is my concern. From watching the lets play video is looked like it might be quite difficult. So the combat is easier than Darksiders? And the story is good? If it is all battles, it might get tiresome. At least in darksiders you had some really neat places to look at and an interesting story.

If you want to get into DayZ for $7.50 its on sale via amazon digital. (US only/proxies/etc)

The story is mediocre, but the presentation is good.

The combat can be difficult (there are a bevy of difficulty and new game+ modes) but it isn’t complicated.

As for the all battles = tiresome >>>> it’s for people who like battles. There is some light platforming and I think the environments you go through are pretty neat, but if playing a brawler just to experience its combat system doesn’t appeal, I would avoid Devil May Cry.

Just to be clear, this is the version of Arma2 you need to play the mod. The new standalone isn’t for sale yet.

I got this direct from the FTL website. You get a DRM free version of the game AND a Steam key! 2 games for $5!

I always wonder if a developer also gives you a Steam key, do they earn less as compared if they just give you the DRM free game. I’m sure Steam takes its cut too. So buying direct from the dev is no different than buying from Steam.

No, the dev gets more money if you buy from their site. See gunpointgame.com for example.

How’s that possible unless Steam is doing charity?

I don’t know–Valve is very tight-lipped about their arrangements with developers–but the developer of Gunpoint explicitly states he gets less money if you buy from Steam.

My guess is Valve offers keys to developers at a reduced rate.

I don’t see why it has to be charity.

hypothetical:

  1. Steam charges $.25 for each Steam key issued.
  2. Steam charges $.50 for each game sold through the steam storefront.

In the above, Steam makes $.75 from a storefront sold game. Steam makes $.25 from a dev sold version, with Steam key. There’s a number of different ways things could be structured. The storefront and the platform can easily be seen as separate services.

That would make sense, sure. I have the impression Steam is like App Store with a flat 30% charge. I’d imagine it will be the same as Valve had to pay for the infra to host these games. If everyone just take advantage of the $0.25 to get their game to be hosted, their infra will be bogged down.

Do the games on Groupees activate on Steam?

Edit: NM, they do :D.

In case others were wondering, some do and some don’t. It’s very easy to tell by clicking on a game and seeing the Steam icon present or not.

2nd day of Gamefly summer sale. Highlights:

Sleeping Dogs for $7
Civ V Gold for $12.50
Human Revolution for $5

The third day will be later today, so grab anything you want before too long.

Steam sale of the day is Oblivion GOTY for $6.79, GOTY deluxe for $8.49 at 66% off.

C’mon, this will only add 1 item to your Steam backlog! It won’t be as bad as adding humble bundle 8 (8+ items).

Does anyone know how Steam announces their week long sale items? I only noticed it now by scrolling the Specials list and caught Waking Mars for $2.49 at 75% off. This sale is on until tomorrow 1pm EDT.

It’s in the news ticker.

Day 3 of Gamefly’s summer sale. Highlights:

Hitman: Absolution for $6.25
Borderlands 2 for $13.60

If anyone has an interest in 3D fighters and has a PS3, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is $5 on PSN, $15 with the customization (which is good if you like dressup)

It’s my favorite fighting game of all time, though it’s pretty different from everything else out there.

It’s also announced on Facebook if you are a “fan” of them.
