Minor correction: it sold for $11.99 during the Steam summer sale. I feel better that it’s not a difference of $4. :-)

Can’t answer that last question, but I watched an LP of it a year or so ago, and it was still acceptable, graphics-wise. The AI turns didn’t seem to take an inordinate amount of time, either.
There are some forgotten gems in that GoG pack, e.g. Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and Star Wolves. I’m licking my summer sale wounds, though, and not biting.

GMG has Square Enix deals. Time to grab the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and others that you have missed in Steam Sale. I’m eyeing Lara Croft: Guardian of the Light which activates in Steam.

Silent Storm is one of my favorite games, I can’t recommend it enough for its smart AI and incredible physics for its time. I always hoped they would do UFO in that engine and put in multiplayer but they instead moved on to do mostly shit games.
I could be thinking of something else, but dont the silent storm games have severe issues on modern operating systems?
I know I had it running fine on Windows 7, haven’t tried on 8 yet.
Just a quick thumbs up for Star Wolves. I loved that game, spent hours on it. IMHO it’s not as as good as Homeworld, but the RPG aspects are pretty nice.

Steam daily sales now run for 48 hours, with the previous one just not being shown on the front page.
In related news, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is today’s daily. Highly recommended.
Daily sale today is Crusader Kings II and DLC–and FINALLY The Old Gods is on sale–picked it up for $3.74. Sweeet!
OMG it’s been almost 2 months!

I’ve been meaning to get back to CK2, but only have the base game. What are the best DLC/expansions? Is it worth just getting the package?
The Old Gods
The Republic
Legacy of Rome
Sword of Islam
…is the good stuff. Sunset Invasion if you like that kind of thing, ditto ditto Ruler designer. The rest are graphical or musical niceties which you can probably live without.
The four items listed above are, together, only marginally cheaper than the whole DLC package. So, for a few dollars more… some of the portrait packs add character to the game. You sort of might as well.
edit: did not get the math right first time around.
This, pretty much. I bought the Cliffski bundle, and am very happy with my $/fun ratio. I didn’t care for Tank Battles (even being a HUGE tower defense fan), already owned (and don’t really like) GSB, but am liking Democracy 2 and Kudos 2 very much in all their Turn-Based goodness.
Kudos 2 is a turn-based Sims game. Very casual and slow-paced. I’ve only played a few hours, but it seems you can slowly build skills to improve your career status and income thereby increasing your ability to do more things and have more fun.
Been interested in Democracy for awhile but… Is it focused on British politics? Makes sense that it would be and that’s great that there would be such a game, but I don’t know that the game would have the same appeal (or learning curve) for me if it is. Can anyone elaborate?
No, it’s not specifically British. If memory serves, you can choose a range of different starting circumstances to play from, and some of them are intended to reflect the reality in particular countries, so you might get to choose a British beginning… it’s years since I played it though so I could be totally misremembering. Is there a demo?
Expeditions: Conquistador is on sale on steam today. Anyone played it?

I did, and put up a review on my site today about it. Long story short from me, it was an interesting game with an unique feel to it thanks to the exploration and follower management. But I did run into technical issues and combat wasn’t completely balanced. If the concept sounds interesting to you I would recommend it as I haven’t seen a game like it in sometime and the developers are still releasing patches according to the steam forums.
