If you remember Stormfront’s LotR games from a decade ago (which coincided with the movies), Snowblind’s WitN is very similar: i.e., button-mashing hack-n-slash with lite RPG components. I liked it; Giaddon, clearly, didn’t. YMMV.

Ah, see, I really did enjoy the LotR: Return of the King game at the time, so if it’s like that, I’m game.

Steam has a nice Focus sale going on. One of the highlights is Divinity 2 Devcut (with all expansions) for $5.

Humble’s weekly bundle just started again. Dejavu of a recent IndieRoyale, but it’s a good one.

This week, pay what you want for AI War: Fleet Command and 5 DLC packs, A Valley Without Wind, A Valley Without Wind 2, Tidalis, and soundtracks. If you pay more than $5.80, you’ll also receive Skyward Collapse, the DLC Skyward Collapse: Nihon no Mura, and Shattered Haven!

If someone out there still needs a wired 360 controller for their Windows-based PC, Newegg has a black one for 29 bucks right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874103205&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL090513&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL090513--EMC-090513-Index--Xbox360Accessories-_-74103205-L0C

AI war is really good if you don’t mind learning the game for like 2-3 hours via the tutorial. Gonna get this bundle for the dlc I am missing, and I wanted to try Skyward Collapse, so win win.

I can’t see this in the actual store at all. Is it over? Or is it because they have excluded australians (although that would be strange considering it lists all the AU prices)?

EDIT: Never mind, the website store wasn’t showing it but it was on the actual PS3. Any recommendations for games? I bought warriors orochi 3 after hearing good things, there are a number of other interesting games there.

The new Humble Weekly Sale ( https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly ) has AIWar and all it’s expansions included.

Tidalis is an interesting take on puzzle / matching games.

Divinity II - worth a fiver?

To be honest, I don’t even remember this game being released.

Fair enough, it’s just I know a few people who’ve wanted AIWar and it’s xpacks cheap for a while :)

It’s a beautiful, funny game with some unique ideas. It also used to be buggy and have a terrible ending, but the expansion (which you get with the Developer’s Cut) fixed most of that, from my understanding. So, imo, yes.

If you like open world RPG games, then definitely. The writing is generally much better than the average for this genre, the combat is ARPG-like at later levels, you get to transform into a dragon later and toast everything (think the dragon sections of Dragon Commander, except in an RPG setting), there’s a decent crafting system that opens up about halfway into the game, it’s non-linear and relatively open world (with gated sections), and the expansion content is excellent. For $5 you’re getting around 100 hours of gameplay if you do most of the content.

Another vote for Divinity 2. Fantastic RPG.

I agree with this. A game worth paying for and worth getting the expansion for.

So the Developer’s Cut is the one to install and play, right? I bought the Dragon Knight Saga a year or two back then the DC showed up alongside it in my Steam library.

Divinity 2 is fantastic.

See examples:

You just want to make sure you get a version with the expansion, as without it you don’t get a satisfactory ending to the story. I think “Saga” has that covered.

Yes. It’s the latest version of the game. I have no idea why there’s two listings.

Yes, it’s confusing. Ego Draconis was the original subtitle, then they re-released it as Dragon Knight Saga with much improved graphics, bug fixes, and the expansion content (Flames of Vengeance) included, and this was (and really still is) the definitive version. But late last year they replaced DKS with Divinity 2 Director’s Cut which was free for anyone who had either of the previous two games. You can’t buy DKS anymore, but if you already had it you now have both in your Steam library. The director’s cut is the same except it adds a bunch of “making of” content, plus you can tweak the game using the console if you like (such as, spawn an army of enemies and fight them with the dragon). You can safely ignore all that if you just want to play the same game as DKS though.
