Desura has been around for quite awhile. It was recently purchased by Linden Labs, actually, wasn’t it?

Yes, it’s a Steam-like store/launcher/community, but focusing on independent games and games in alpha (it was doing this well before Early Access on Steam). Unless you’re totally turned off by indie games, I think you should check it out. There are a lot of games there that you unlikely to otherwise stumble upon. Project Zomboid, Super Amazing Wagon Adventure, The Oil Blue… It was the first place I got access to Gnomoria and Thomas Was Alone before they made it to Steam. As far as digital delivery services, I rank it second to Steam, but I am an indie fan.

One Finger Death Punch is an elegant action game using two buttons to execute hundreds of kung fu moves to massacre stick figures. A reflex game is a good way to put it, at its core. Why I love it is because it is brimming over with weapons, modes, and little surprises all over.

Big sale on games that have not yet made it to Steam, including half off on Race the Sun:

Curious if anyone can recommend any of these other games.

I can recommend Ring Runner wholeheartedly, and Drifter is still in beta but coming along quite nicely.

OFDP made me install Desura. It was worth it.

I love the notonsteam concept. It’s a sad state of affairs that they all have Greenlight buttons underneath. Oh well, it seems like that whole system will change eventually.

It’s just a store, once you buy games you can just download their installers from their site directly. I think they have a client you can get (for Windows, at least) but you don’t need to run it in order to play or install your games.

Oh and keep in mind One Finger Death Punch is on XBLIGarglebargle if you have a console and don’t want Desura.

Thanks for the Desura details. One Finger Death Punch bought.

Plus, some bonuses!

This was a fun little game about getting your neighbours to move out by annoying them with traps and such in their home. It’s pretty old now but at the time it had some pretty nice art but I’m not sure how it’s holding up these days. I played a fair amount of it when it first came out and I think about it every so often. To mention another obscure game, I’d compare it to The Haunting which is an old Genesis game about scaring people to move out of their house.

Whoa. They patched out all the GFWL junk too. These guys are awesome.

Sounds like Ghostmaster - also an underrated title.

The Steam Community for this game is amusing, at least:

Interestingly, the AU version is even cheaper, at $2.49. Go figure.

Wow, best news of today! I am excited to try out Minerva’s Den. Hope it is short. 4 hours tops?

Erm I recall it being around 4-6 hours, its been awhile since I played it, but I know I was searching for all the audio logs.

Steam deal of the day is Surgeon Simulator 2013 $3.39 (-66%). Now with Sectoids. I don’t get why Steam loves this game so much.

2K discount of the day is the Borderlands series.
Borderlands 2 $10.19 (-66%). DLCs are not on sale.
Borderlands GOTY $7.49 (-75%).
Both games sell 4-pack for further discount. Go rope in your friends!
