Less than 24 hours remain to take advantage of a few nice bundles over at Indie Gala.
The Real Warfare Bundle - Real Warfare base game is $0.99 and $2.99 nets you both the base game and the Northern Crusades Expansion. Note that the base game alone is $4.99 on Steam on sale this week, so deal!
Star Wolves Bundle - $0.99 gets you 1C’s Star Wolves, $4.99 adds Star Wolves 2 and Star Wolves 3
King’s War Bundle - $0.99 nets you a nice haul of King’s Bounty : Legend, King’s Bounty : Armored Princess, Men of War and Men of War Red Tide. That’s a pretty serious bargain for $1.
Jump up to the oddly priced $8.99 second tier and add King’s Bounty : Crossworlds and Men of War : Assualt Squad GOTY.
Of note : If you are only interested in Crossworlds, it will likely go on sale for $5 (75% off) during the next Steam sale.
NOTE: all of the above games are 1C games, and Gigglemoo mentioned a 1C sale starting on Groupees very early tomorrow morning, so it may be worthwhile to wait and see what that sale is like, then make your decision tomorrow afteroon since both sales will be in effect at that point. Indie Gala sale ends at 4:00 PM EST tomorrow.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but another steam midweek deal is Assassin’s Creed III at 60% off. In Australia’s version of the internet that means $16.

Is AC 3 worth my time if I still have AC: Brotherhood to finish and have not even attempt AC: Revelations. They made AC games faster than I can play them!
Brotherhood is a better game by far than AC3, if you’re going to choose one to play. The best description I’ve heard for AC3 is “All frosting and no cake.”

Counterpoint: Assassin’s Creed 3 is the best AC yet and totally worth 12 bucks / twenty hours of your time. The main story/campaign is fine (not amazing), but if you like exploring worlds, it’s a beautiful and inviting one.
You do need to power through around four hours of plot setup before you are fully let loose in that world, though.
I was facing the same dilemma recently when I finally finished AC 2. In the end I decided to go in order, and I’m glad I did. Brotherhood is the best game in the series up to that point. I’m also enjoying the world in Revelations so far (Istanbul/Constantinople), and have dabbled a little bit with the beginning of AC3, which starts off pretty strong for the first hour or so that I played. I’m just scared that I will saturate myself with too much Assassin’s Creed by the time AC4 comes out, so I’m probably not going to get AC4 at launch. Too much of a good thing will still get you sick, right?
So just pace yourself, but if you enjoy exploring virtual worlds, which is what I love the most about the AC series, then Brotherhood and Revelations and AC3 are all worth it.
Gog has Red Neck Rampage on sale as part of a 50% off gov shutdown sale. I don’t know anything about the game, but this is the funniest commentary on the shutdown I’ve seen all week!
Here’s a chance at Civilization 5 or Mafia 2 for free:

Looks like a couple of those are better deals. :)
Even if you have no intention of buying any of the games, this is worth reading just for the commentary.

Ok, I will save the $12 and concentrate on Brotherhood. I guess by the time I am ready, it will be $5. Just so many games these days. I wish I am at least 10 years younger, that would be really nice!
The furlough offer from GOG is hilarious. Obviously, furloughs themselves are not funny, but the email offer is worth a chuckle.
The Groupees 1C Build-A-Bundle Sale that Gigglemoo mentioned yesterday has gone live.
It’s essentially pick any two games from the list for a minimum of $1, and add additional games for a minimum of $0.50 (it’s pay what you want, but with $0.50 floor built in per game). The list is quite long :

FREE BONUS with every purchase = Men of War : Red Tide (Steam), and soon they will add Dawn of Magic 2 as a bonus as well.
This bundle package makes some of the Indie Gala stuff I posted yesterday obsolete. For example, you could package all three Star Wolves games together out of this bundle for as little as $1.50 (saving $2.50 over Indie Gala) and get Men of War : Red Tide and Dawn of Magic 2 for free.
You could also group together all the Men of War games (including Assault Squad GOTY) and the two King’s Bounty games and pay only $3.00 (saving $6 off the Indie Gala bundle), but you would not get KB : Crossworlds, which is not part of the Groupees sale.
Alas the Real Warfare games are not part of the Groupees package either, so you have less than 6 hours to grab those from Indie Gala for $2.99 if you want them.
EDIT : Weird, it looks like Indie Gala extended their 1C bundles by another 48 hours, as the countdown now reads 2 days 5 hours instead of just 5 hours.
Boy, that’s a huge list of games I’ve never heard of (other than King’s Bounty, which is fantastic). I never got around to Armored Princess, so I’d like to get that. Anything else there worth the rest of a buck?
Oh God! Avoid all the Konung games.
Star Wolves 2 is on the proud list of games I own and have never played, and may never play. Is it the best of the bunch?
There are way too many “five star” reviews for this game on GoG. It’s entertaining at first but quickly gets repetitive (same five or so enemies throughout the entire game) and level design is pretty bad. I would only recommend the game if you’re feeling VERY nostalgic. There are much better shooters to play from that era (ie, Outlaws, Jedi Knight, Quake 2).
Fantasy Wars was a fun little TBS game, but was superceeded by the Elven Legacy games.
I’ve seen several people mention Star Wolves as a fun space RTS/RPG. Never played myself, but might pick them up for $1.50.
The Theater of War series is decent, if flawed. It’s a little like Company of Heroes, a tactical RTS with infantry, armor and misc. units all combining to accomplish mission objectives.
Men of War is probably the best game series out of the list aside from King’s Bounty. It’s yet another RTS game, but with the twist that you can pop in and control a single unit yourself. 80/100 on Metacritic and plenty of good reviews for the series around the net.
No idea on any of the others. I did play the original Konung, and agree with amandachen, avoid at all costs.
I enjoyed all three SW games, I think 3 might be the best of the bunch, but I’ve played that more recently. The gameplay is fairly unchanged between the iterations regardless.
Parkan II is also an excellent space game where you fly ships, run around inside 'em, board 'em and steal 'em, and run around on planets too. I had a fun time with it.
I cringe every time I see that “Armored Princess” artwork.
Anyone’d definitely get their quarters worth with the King’s Bounties if they’re a fan of Heroes of Might & Magic-style gameplay. Stay away if you’re a completionist with a backlog though - they’re something like 50 hours each to finish.
Star Wolves 3 is practically free if you sell the trading cards it gives you.

I liked Fantasy Wars a lot. Elven Legacy does refine it, but they have different army compositions and feel different enough to both be worth playing.
