Agreed. Remember when Amazon entered the ring a few short years ago? And all their lightning deals were so good, they were gone before you could even click on it? And others only lasted for a few seconds? Every year since then, the deals have been getting less amazing. Fast forward to this year, when most of the lightning deals didn’t even sell out.

Most of the decent lightning deals did sell out and often in minutes.

I think this was due to the excitement of the event though and how amazon worded things, not the actual sales.

If you make it so customers have to be at the computer waiting for an item to open up for a lightning deal, they are probably going to buy it. You probably aren’t going to have noted down the pre lightning price and compared the two to realize that even though amazon says you’re saving 50%, you were saving 40% even before the sale when you compare it against the MSRP.

About half way through amazon’s sale i started smelling a rat and comparing what I really saved from the lightning sales. I did not like the result.

I did buy Beyond two souls for $25 though.

Amazon’s best deals, gamewise, have been as good or better than the competition pretty much anywhere (nobody else has had Dishonored for $5, Arkham Origins for $20, Assassin’s Creed IV for $35, Payday 2 for $10, etc, though I suppose Steam might still go there) and in my experience where the lightning deals have been only a little lower than the previous price it’s been because the previous price was already a massive discount. I know I made out like a bandit in their movies & TV section (which imho has been where Amazon’s Black Friday events typically shine) this year, with a number of excellent movies on Bluray for $4-6, some quite recent, and almost nothing I bought, including seasons of television on Bluray and brand-new movies on Bluray, was over $10. If I had one complaint, it’s that their lightning deals tended to be the DVD version more often than both formats. (And I’m not buying DVDs anymore unless there’s no Bluray edition.)

Fallout: New Vegas: Ultimate Edition is $6.58 on GamersGate today. I rate this deal as awesome.

Newegg is offering the retail boxed version of The Elder Scrolls Anthology for $34.99 with FREE 2-Day Shipping.

Amazon has it priced for $34.99 also, but free shipping doesn’t apply unless your order is over $35.

Sorry to say, you missed the deal. It was 25 dollars on Friday. It might come down again though.

This is an Amazon Lightning Deal right now for $25. Hurry though, as it’s nearly 50% claimed and has less than 2 hours left.

Metro: Last Light on Steam Daily for $13.59. Think it’ll go lower?

edit: that’s 2/3rds off. DLC is also 2/3rds off.

2nd edit: Is any of the dlc worth it? I’m going to grab Ranger mode, for sure. Any of the mission packs or the weapon worth my $?

Just following up to note that this morning the code was accepted fine - the already redeemed error must have been a side effect of them being overloaded. I never had to contact either company’s customer service.

Just saw this on SlickDeals - free $2 credit to use at Amazon (before 12/29) - just go to this link and click on ‘Claim.’ It’ll show up as a promotion when you checkout.

Dunkin Donut $2 Promotion

All codes claimed. :-(

Amazon has the new version of Shadow Warrior on sale for $9.99. Unlocks on Steam.

DAYUM , didn’t expect to see it this low so soon. BOUGHT!

Also Amazon is giving out $5 credit for each game you buy before the end of the year, the credit is good for select GOTY games or something like that, starting Jan 2, 2014.

Gamersgate has the Dominions games on sale.

$5 http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-DOM3A/dominions-3-the-awakening

$21 http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-DOM4TA/dominions-4-thrones-of-ascension

Need for Speed Rivals for 27.47 – lowest I’ve seen it.
Castlevania is back at $10 on Gamersgate, if anyone missed the flash sale.
Enemy Within for $22.50
Napoleon: Total War Collection for $7.50
Galactic Civilizations 2 Ultimate Edition for $5
Preorder Assassin’s Creed Liberation for $15
Assassin’s Creed 3 for $7.50
Heroes VI: Shades of Darkness for $5

Been wanting to give these a try. Is Dominions 3 worth it or should you just get 4?

Apologies if this was already mentioned, but Amazon has the digital X-Com collection for $9.99. This includes the classic X-Com games, Enemy Unknown, as well as two of the DLC packs for EU - Slingshot and Soldier. For anyone looking for EU, this is a better deal than the recent Steam sale, even if you already owned the classic games.

Today only, Amazon.ca (sorry, yanks) is selling Fire Emblem: Awakening for $24.99. Best price I’ve seen for it yet.

Dominions is an acquired taste. It will really put your investment in “gameplay over graphics” to the test. I’d advise anyone to check out 3 for $5 and see if they like it. Plus 3 still has a very active community of players.

4 seems terrific so far, but the player community is still ramping up and getting to grips with the changes. Thanks to the change in publisher, I think you’ll see future sales on Dominions 4. Maybe not as often as some games on Steam, but there should be sales.

With who are you planning to play it? I say that because they are famous by a very poooooor AI so most people treat them in practical terms as multiplayer games.
