This is because you have first world internet in your country.

If you lived in the USA, you would have almost no choice, your first cost number would be double or triple and there would likely be no uncapped option (possible a larger cap for twice the previous price).

Splinter Cell: Blacklist for $24, less with GFDDEC20.

Sorry, it is, there are loads of providers and loads of choice. The issue is more to do with quality of download speed.

I have Virgin but also the BT fibre is available here. My ADSL download speed max is 1.5mb so I agree if I didn’t have Virgin or Fibre as a choice online downloads would be a pain based on speed but that is nothing to do with the choice and unlimited downlaods of which there are lots of choice.

Here is a list of providers available http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/providers/ that is 27 of them. There is actually 150 providers available in the uk.

Of course it does depend on what you want and how much you want to spend. Clicking on the links gives plenty of unlimited download options for as cheap as £7.50 a month + line rental.

So it is really really is true, as long as you look.

Speak for your country. As the rest of us have been trying to tell you, this absolutely isn’t the case in the US. Most of us have to contend with local monopolies, high prices for low speeds and/or caps, and very little chance of any of this changing within the next decade.

Hahaha, no.

Here I have one option for broadband, and that’s satellite. I can maybe get 1 bar of 3G cell coverage before switching to the emergency band, and there are no other wireless services available. There is no cable going down my street, and the local phone company (AT&T) is talking about getting rid of land lines in the area, so there is no hope of them upgrading them.

My current plan has a 250 MB daily cap at about 3 Megabit (if you’re lucky). Please let me know what the cheapest uncapped option is that I have available to me.

I live five minutes outside of town. There are tens of millions of people like me in this country. If our only option is satellite, then this problem will not be solved for decades. It is too expensive to send the kind of infrastructure into orbit that will support that kind of bandwidth demand.

Persona 4 Golden for the Vita is $16.99 at Amazon.

I’m not a mod, but we should probably discuss the sorry state of reasonable-cost internet availability in a P&R thread or something. In my view fixed land-line internet needs to be treated like a public utility.

I’ve got two choices for broadband and I live in the largest metropolitan area in my state. And that makes me lucky, because in large parts of the country there’s one or none.

Gentlemen! You can’t post bargains here. This is the Bargain Thread!

I’ve got two line-based choices where I live (in the US). Neither has usage caps. I’m somewhat lucky to have two choices, because the last place I lived only had 1 choice, was limited to 3Mbps and was more expensive.

10 Mbps for $59 through the phone company
30 Mbps for $49 through the cable company

I imagine there are satellite options and cell options too, but those are generally more expensive and have less performance.

Steam today: Hotline Miami $2.49 -75%. QT3 Thread. I’m sure if you miss this sale, you can find it again from amazon, gamefly, greenmangaming, etc.

Simplycdkeys has The Bureau: X-COM Declassified for £4.99 (about $8.15). It didn’t get glowing reviews, but the setting seems cool and the reviews it did get suggest it isn’t terrible either.

Just about the same here, the local 2 cable companies started a internet war this fall, and its been glorious for me. I left my crappy Verizon 3Mbps DSL and now I have 50Mbps cable for $49 ,AND they offer 75Mbs for $10 more if I want it. BUT!!! Next year 100 Mbps should be availible and cost $80 if I want it. No contracts and no data caps, its glorious. Northeast PA here. :D

Oh it’s changing, it’s getting worse.

Typing of the Dead: Overkill is 66% off on 24 hour sale at GMG now. Using the following 20% off code brings down the price to around $5.44: GMG20-CV2W4-DSYBT

Debating whether to get this now or wait. Is this just a joke game that people will play for 15 minutes of laughs?

If the typing doesn’t work out for you it includes the PC port of the HD/PS3 version of this:

So probably worth $5 (though it’s a barebones port apparently).

edit: Fidgit is shamefully dead but there is a snapshot of the page here

Hoping this isn’t a repeat, but I’m standing here in Target and they have some interesting ps3 deals. Ni No Kuni for $14.99 is the deal that stands out to me. Sale is from 12/8-12/14.

They also have Borderlands 2 and God of War saga at that price.

Edit: and for those wanting Ni No Kuni digitally, PSN has it for $9.79 for playstation plus members. Not sure the sale price without the membership.

One of the boys rented it from gamefly and lost interest after a few hours. 3rd person, cover based shooter with squad mates that are supposedly under your control but are kinda dumb. Expect to do most of the killing yourself.

12-month Xbox Live Cards $40 with free shipping at Newegg.

Steam today: The Darkness II $7.49 -75%

I don’t see any Steam weekly sales. I’m probably checking too early.
