Weekly sales are up.

Aquanox I & II are $1.99. I loved this back in the day: Worst. Voice. Acting. Ever.

Aquanox I was great, but I bet would make my eyes bleed now. I remember being disappointed with 2.

Ok, let me jot down the weekly’s. There’s Gothic, Two Worlds II, Flatout, Duke Nukem 3D … feels like a GOG weekend special.

Flatout: Ultimate Carnage $4.99 -75%.
Flatout 3: Chaos & Destruction $7.49 -75%.
Arena Wars 2 $0.99 -90%.
Naval Warfare $0.99 -80%.
Retrovirus $4.99 -75%.
Two Worlds Collection $9.99 -80%. Individual games & DLCs also -80%.
The Raven - Legacy of a Master Thief $12.49 -50%.
The Guild II Collection $4.99 -75%. This is neither Guild Wars 2 nor Crusader King 2.
Arcania + Gothic Pack $12.49 -75%. Individual games & DLCs also -75%.
AquaNox 1 + 2 $1.99 -75%.
Chaser $1.24 -75%.
Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior Bundle $3.74 -75%. These are the 20 years old 3DFX games, not the recent remakes. (Do I really have to say this?)
Hacker Evolution: Untold $2.00 -80%.

Is Flatout UC essentially a prettier Flatout 2? I liked Flatout 2 a lot so it’s not a strike against it. I’ve also been a fan of Bugbear since their awesome game Rally Trophy back in the day (2001?).

Thanks, Profanicus! I decided to wait since I have enough games to hold me over for awhile. Will definitely pick it up sometime.

Preorder for the next (final?) Professor Layton game is $10 off on Amazon right now:

This is for the 3DS. Releases 2/28/2014 in the US.

Grrr, I missed it. I was going to pick this up if I could get it for cheap.

Another 3DS game deal: Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward is down to $19.99 on Amazon, which appears to be their lowest price for this game.

…and ignore me, I’m just posting deals for myself today:

The Razer Orbweaver has dropped down to $89.99 on Newegg. It was less than $70 briefly last July (I missed it), and no significant price drop since then.

I’ve been wanting to try this out for awhile now, but I’m not sure whether I should get it since I’m no longer playing WoW or any MMOs (at least for now…).

No, you probably don’t, because that would be clearly overpriced for the recent remakes.

Yeah it’s basically the same except they added a few more AI opponents to each race (which makes things a bit too crowded IMO). It uses GFWL so its multiplayer component will likely die in July. Flatout 2’s multiplayer is also dead thanks to Gamespy, but that will likely be easier to use via Hamachi than anything using GFWL.

The shadow warrior remake was actually one of the best recent shooters actually.

Best Buy has a handful of games on sale; of note to me were Red Dead GOTY (360) for $15, Journey CE for $12, and inFamous/Killzone collections for $15.

360 games on sale
PS3 games on sale

I need your advice Bargain thread.

Remember Me for 360 is selling for $10 right now. Worth it? Or will it be a situation like Xbox and PS2 games I bought for a bargain after I already had a 360 that just went to the backlog that I never ended up playing?

I guess I’m asking if the game is special enough to go back to older hardware for?

Steam today: Völgarr the Viking $5.99 -50%. “New antique” arcade action game. Published by Adult Swim?!?
Steam Midweek #1: L.A. Noire $4.99 -75%. DLCs and Complete Editions -75%.
Steam Midweek #2: not announced yet.

I think it’s worth $10. I enjoyed the game, it had some interesting ideas and manipulating people’s memories was kind of fun. It’s not open world or anything like that, though, quite linear. And the combat isn’t really great. But still, I’d call my own experience with the game positive overall.

That looks a lot like Altered Beast, a 1988 coin-op side-scrolling beat 'em up. The art style, the crudeness of the animations, and the general feel of combat, even if it’s clearly a different design in the specifics.

What I find interesting is that the 2nd Steam video shows a more typical player experience, namely dying a lot. After two failed runs, it shows a perfect run where the player defeats all the stuff that killed him the first two times around. The message being “you’ll get it eventually,” I guess.

Looked more like Rastan with a touch of ghosts n goblins to me.

Midweek #2: Dragon Age “Franchise” (Dragon Age 2 is not on Steam so…)

Does Steam do a Xmas/Winter sale? If so, any guesses as to when it will start?

Pretty sure Steam doesn’t do holiday sales.
