I thought it was a pretty faithful remake of the board game. There is a campaign that can be played single player that I found challenging. The multiplayer seems to work as advertised and the few rounds that I have played of it have been fun. Overall, if you are a fan of the board game then this is probably worth. The only caveat to that is that there is an iPad version out there that you may prefer depending on your platform of choice.

SELF QUOTE!

Some deals I grabbed today from GMG that work on STEAM:

Batman Arkham Origins Season Pass : $8 ( got it for the 2 single player dlcs ).
Darkout: $8.04 ( GAME THREAD HERE )

Just because they give you a Steam key doesn’t mean you actually have to register it. No one else need ever know your secret shame of paying for Colonial Marines! ;)

I bought it , using this logic!

Thanks, Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed for $4 - ka-ching!

Yeah I saw season pass at 4.99. Should have jumped at that.

A new Groupees is out.

Any recommendations here? Avernum, Driftmoon and Gateways look interesting to me. QUBE seems to have gotten good comments, but I can’t play most FPS games.

QUBE is a puzzle game really. Gateways too, and pretty decent (though kind of hard once you reach a point).

Avernum and Driftmoon also had good impressions in this forum, I believe. The four of them for $2 (or more…) is good enough to buy.

Not to be left behind, Ubisoft winter sale! Up to 75% off on a bunch of games. Offer ends Dec 31.

Source: RedFlagDeals forum thread with a list of sale items. There are the usual Ubi franchises, a smattering of indies (Sine Mora, To The Moon, …), and some oldies (Fallout 2/3/New Vegas).

How does UBI’s draconian DRM apply to 3rd party titles? Normally I’d be on Expeditions:Conquistador for $5 like stink on a monkey, but not so much if I have to deal with the Uplay front-end.

No idea. I thought UBI has relaxed their DRM stuff? But still, I’m sure you have to run their UBI store client thingie. Doesn’t it come with ubi games anyways? I got infected when I bought FC3 Blood Dragon, so the client is around somewhere.

It’s not the DRM it’s the idiotic front end that makes view their ads before you launch your game. At least that’s how it works for Anno2070.

Not much has changed since we talked about it in the racing games thread. It’s still just hotlapping, no AI or multiplayer yet. Based on my limited reading of the community, it gets a lot of credit for being a serious sim without “twitchy” physics that some people don’t like in PC sims. It’s still hardcore and well-modelled with all the assists off.

The “PC Forza/GT5” will be Project CARS. Those are the guys that did the Shift series. They’re taking the kitchen sink approach to tracks and cars like the console games. Assetto Corsa is a bit more limited (though more than I expected) and has a slight emphasis on Italian tracks and cars. They seem to have plans for continued expansion (DLC, unfortunately) since they’re polling the community about the next tracks to laser scan.

Both games supposedly have/will have great X360 gamepad support.

$30 for AC is a no-brainer to anyone who is a fan of PC race sims, although it will probably be on sale again by the time they have most of the content out there. They are dribbling it out every 2 weeks: about 3 cars and a couple tracks. I’m pretty excited about the F40 and the drag strip (oddly enough) that comes out tomorrow. Your mileage may vary.

I just bought all the stuff released for Crusader Kings 2 on Amazon from this summer (old gods and the celtic stuff which was 70% off, registers on steam). Several which were $0.60 each. Apparently each purchase will get me a $5 coupon for their January sale. That’s a freaking bargain.

Amazon has 9 of the classic You Don’t Know Jack quiz games as a bundle for $5. It doesn’t look like they include Steam keys and I’m not sure how compatible they are with modern OSes, but they’re funny games and that’s a hell of a price.

Isn’t Project cars saddled with some weird investor thing?

EDF 2017 Portable for the PS Vita is half off (now $15) at the Sony Store - link. Pretty much the same as the Xbox game. Over the top giant alien third person shooter. The graphics and animations are terrible but you can literally level a city while taking out 20 story tall evil alien robots with a bunch of guns. That said, the game gets tedious once you start replaying levels repeatedly to unlock the best weapons.

So I went ahead and picked this up since I had Steam credit available. The amount of content is still very barebones, a dozen or so cars and half a dozen tracks. No AI or any modes except practice and hotlapping vs your own ghosts. That said, the infrastructure and underlying engine seem solid. I felt like I really had control of the car I was driving, and the force feedback was solid – when I went over rumble strips it felt right and didn’t jerk the wheel out of my hands from too much feedback. The full compliment of driving assists are present as are racing lines, though the lines appear to need a bit of work; there were times when the line was green and I should have been braking and visa-versa. So far, I’m happy with my purchase and I can see a huge potential for this game so I’m content to see it all roll out as it’s ready, but if you’re looking for something with a lot of features today I couldn’t recommend it.

One more thing: they do advertise a career mode (coming soon, of course). No details but I’m sure it will be nothing like the polished main attractions in most console racing games.

Locker K, glad to hear you took the plunge. Keep in touch in the race sim thread! I’ll probably pull out the wheel and pedals again this weekend for AC.
