That’s my plan. I skipped the kids part since they are expensive so I’ll be able to retire at 40.

Due to Steam game sales, I’ll never be able to retire or finish my backlog. :(

I find the prospect of an empty backlog more disturbing than one full of games I’ll never get to. I like to have options.

I buy games in the hope that someday I will get to travel on business and I can play in the plane or in the hotel in the evening. Those days don’t come too often. Damn you, bad economy!

Apart from the visual style (which I like, others don’t), it’s a very bland & repetitive button-mashing action game. The sequel is marginally better, but that wasn’t a high bar to vault…

GMG’s weekend deal is on a variety of vehicle-based games, like Guns of Icarus Online for under 7 bucks and Train Simulator 2013 for $7.50. They’ve also got Defiance for 30% off and Stellar Impact for $2.50; Dishonored & Skyrim for half-price (inc. DLC); Dawn of Fantasy for $10; and a Tomb Raider Collection for $15 (inc. everything but GoL and the latest, I think). Their current 20% off code is GMG20-GGN5D-FC3NA, which AFAIK will work on all of their sales.

Goddamn right he is. I salute you sir!

Sadly, it’s too late for me to initiate that plan unless I get divorced, which is always a possibility. Come to think of it, if I got divorced I’d have far more free time, and since I already own all the games it wouldn’t matter that I’d be broke from child support and alimony. Hmm…

;-)

Hey guys, GMG has Euro Truck Sim 2 back on sale for $14.99, Steam key.

Post Mortem was added (free) to that Meridian 4 groupees bundle. Death Track Resurrection was added to the 1C one, next bonus is El Matador.

Yup yup. I got into that problem in a depressing point of my life. I was stuck in bed with back problems for nearly 6 months, and one of the ways I dealt with it was spending ~$500 during a Steam sale on bundle packs for lots of things to play. Instead I ended up spending most of the time in F2P mmos…

You could try to stop completing games. Enjoy them until they stop being fun, then look up the endings on youtube? That worked for me - and I carried that into books, movies, and other media I didn’t want to slog through.

skyrim is out of stock… damn! This game was on sale probably twice since it was released…

Dragonborn is on sale through GMG for $9.99. I don’t think it’s been reduced on Steam yet.

Yeah. I’ve gotten better though. The first year after I got married, I still bought games like that. Then the year after, I was so busy, I only bought the biggest releases… but then still got suckered into Steam sales and bought a bunch of games. But last year, I only bought a few games, AND I didn’t get sucked into any big Steam sale purchases either. As the years go by, and my gaming hours continue oscillate between 2-10 hours a week of gaming time, I become more and more used to it.

In theory I should only buy the best of the best. The cream of the crop. But you know, certain games just call to you, and you end up spending hours and hours driving around fake Colorado in Forza Horizon when you really should be taking Planescape: Torment off your backlog, or finishing the latest Bioshock.

Agreed. I’ve actually noticed a pretty big change in my gaming habits over the last year (partially because of my ballooning backlog and partially because of the rise of ‘light’ Indie games that can be entertaining without a big investment in time and brain power).

I used to be better at focusing on a single game (or two) and playing them to some level of completion. More recently though, I’ve been jumping around much more often. Even with games I was really enjoying (e.g., Bastion), or games that I felt I should play because they’re acclaimed as pillars in one of my favorite genres (e.g., Company of Heroes, Witcher, other stuff), I’ve only gotten 5-40% in before moving on to other things.

Part of this is because my habits and options have changed. With so many ‘light’ Indie games available (especially on my Android tablet), I have a number of undemanding games that are much easier to jump into for 5-45 minutes. (I also find myself playing DoWII multiplayer compulsively, even when I realize 2-4 minutes after booting it up that I really should have started up something else. Not that it’s a simple game per se, but I already know it well enough and an online game can be wrapped up in 20-35 minutes).

I’m with you! Look me up for some multiplayer. :)

Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics are all on sale on Steam. $6.79 nets you all three.
I loved all three games, so I’d certainly call that a good price.

I’m not sure if/how well they run on modern PCs through Steam. It sounds like you may need some sort of user-made patch.

Actually trying that exact thing at the moment…and I have no more time to play games now than when I was married. Not sure why exactly. At least my ex didn’t go after half my steam account. I was really worried about that for a while…

I avoid iOS game in general because if I have time for mobile game, why don’t I play PC games instead? I know there’s the pickup and casual play thingy, but there’s a lot of PC indie game that is casual too. I find that the more I stayed away from the PC, the less likely I want to sit on the PC desk to game (I don’t have a console and does not know that luxury).

Damn, deal of the month right here: Borderlands 2 for $10. Gamersgate.

Does anyone know how they run on a modern pc?

Steam says I’ve played that for 277 hours so far. Granted, I’ve got the Season Pass (which I picked up from Green Man for $10), but it’s still a lot of game.

rps have thoroughly documented the patches / mods that allow the fallout agme to run on modern systems (including running the games in widescreen 1080p and above). A quick search for “fallout” on the main www.rockpapershotgun.com page should get you what you need.
