Fine, i be selling them for a peppercorn. Happy? ;)
I’m sorely tempted by ME3 @ $5.99, but I’m wary of the DLC hassles/price-gouging that might follow. For games that are DLC heavy, I normally do my best to wait and buy the ‘complete’ or ‘Game of the Year’ bundles, but it seems like they’re not offering a bundle version for Mass Effect 3?
In fact, I can’t even find the ME3 DLC for sale on the Origin webpage. Are the DLC’s sold exclusively through some sort of in-game store?
Does anyone know if there’s a way to buy and install the DLC all at once, preferably on sale? I consider $6 or $9 dirt cheap for the base game, but I’ve also heard from some Qt3ers that I probably want several of the DLC, and if they’re $15 each, I’ll probably just wait for the Origin store to go out of business so I can buy ME3 via Steam someday.
…This wiki page makes it sound like my best deal is:
Amazon’s ME3 “Digital deluxe edition” = $9
Leviathan DLC = $10
Omega DLC = $15
Citadel DLC = $15
That’s $49. ME3 is clearly a AAA game and I appreciate the production values, but I don’t think I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 enough to risk $49 on the third game.
That is, unfortunately, 100% accurate. Neither ME2 nor ME3 have ever had a bundled-DLC edition, and neither have ever had their DLC go on sale, and I fucking -hate- that. (Also, you can buy the DLC through Origin, but I think not the website, only the client.)
Supposedly, the Bioware points that are used to purchase the DLCs do go on sale, but so rarely that I’ve only seen it once in about 3 years now.
That said, the only DLC of the three that I thought to be exceptional was the final one, Citadel. You can safely skip the other two (and even the third, arguably.) For $6-9, ME3 is an absolute steal.
Alan Wake Bundle: http://www.humblebundle.com/weekly
Pay what you want. Get Alan Wake CE and American Nightmares. Pay $1 or more and get Steam keys.
On the “indie CRPG” front, GOG has Driftmoon for $7.50 and Unepic for five bucks.
Unmechanical is $10 or pay what you want. $1 gets you a Steam key.

GAH. People, two freaking tracks does not constitute a whole soundtrack.
Game looks cool though, looking forward to trying it.
(Yes, I purchased this primarily for the “soundtrack”, as I collect them.)
Ok fine… you talked me into it. :-)
But I’m 99% sure that I won’t play through this game twice, so I hope you’re not just teasing me with the hope that I can safely ignore the Omega and Leviathan DLCs. I can’t remember who, but a helpful QT3 member convinced me that I definitely need to play the Citadel for its plot-hole filling and story-line-fluffing.
PS: Thank you for talking me into it.
PPS: I guess this is a topic for another thread, but I’m surprised to see that Amazon is charging tax on their digital sales. The physical goods I understand, but I think this is the first time I’ve ever noticed sales tax on a digital purchase.
Why don’t you change your address state to NH or something? These states have no sales tax. That’s what I am doing and I can safely buy Amazon downloads from this part of the world.
Citadel can be played anytime after a certain event in the game, but IMHO works best after the ending even if it doesn’t make much sense there, but at which point you’ll have a better idea if throwing more money at the game is worthwhile for you. Oh, and if you enjoy the combat in the game, do try out the multiplayer. It is very good, and all the DLC for it is free. Cheers!
Funny you mention this.
My US Apple ID + Amazon.com “address” is in New Hampshire.
The gist of it is that Amazon’s free ride on collecting taxes is going to end.
Sooo glad that we Oregonians have always had the sense to reject regressive sales taxes. Once that sh*t is foisted on people it’s really hard to get rid of.
Yrs, but only in states with sales tax. Why would amazon collect taxes from states without sales tax?
I’m sure Oregon makes up for the lack of sales tax elsewhere (ie, property taxes, income taxes, etc). Here in TN, we have a high sales tax but no state income tax. I haven’t done the math to figure out which is better/worse but it’s definitely less paperwork come April 15th.
They won’t, but Amazon will likely have to get more strict about letting people say they live in states with no sales tax, but have actual card billing addresses in other locations.
Take the tax talk elsewhere, bitches, we come here for DEALS! Speaking of, GamersGate has almost every one of their space games on sale this weekend.

Some good stuff in there.
