I’m sure it is less paperwork, but every study I’ve seen shows that state sales taxes hit low-income people disproportionately hard, which is pretty shitty. Oregon’s income tax certainly needs some reforming (and we need to get rid of the blasted “kicker” and put the money in a rainy day fund), but it’s easier on poor people.

Four steam keys for a dolla.

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem (I had an hour of fun with this)
Robin Hood (Was told it was like Commandos)
RIP Trilogy
Pacific Storm

They’re dirt cheap, but ask yourself if you’d actually play them.

Just to thanks to all & sundry for pointing out Unity of Command (more awesome wargame than anyone needs for $6) and Sacred 2 Gold (replaces DRM-riddled not-Gold version I have on FUCK YOU IMPULSE/GAMESTOP)

SotS: Rebellion is on sale in Steam for a few more hours at a cheaper price : $13.59

While we’re talking about Steam, today’s deal is Magic the Gathering Duels of the Planeswalker 2013 for $3.39.
Same 66% discount on other Mtg2013 DLCs and packages.
Punctuations not included.

I just came here to post that too. :) My Steam rec:

"Best version of the game so far. Skip the DLCs/Expansion unless you know you’ll like it (there’s a demo), in which case that Gold Game Deal Bundle today is good.

Warning! 2013 has extra promo codes which you can access in the game itself. Entering these adds overpowered cards to each deck - including the enemies you’ll face in the campaign. Can make the game both much tougher & easier. Recommend finishing single player before doing that - but you’ll want to put them in before you ever try multiplayer."

All the 0.99 DLC is either pointless or skips a game unlock. You get 1-3 extra cards each time you win a game with a deck. It takes many matches to unlock them all though. 2014 is coming out soon, so expect the multiplayer to die if it hasn’t already. Don’t backlog this one if you want to enjoy that.

Still a good deal, but a reminder that DotP 2014 will be out in a month or less, based on release dates of the last two. DotP 2014’s big addition will be sealed play.

I’ve got DotP 2012 on backlog…I couldn’t get very far in the single player. I think I’ll pass on 2013.

Haha, I was just browsing that as a possible temporary fix while I wait for Hex. They must be reading my mind.

Give Duel of Champions a try to hold you over for Hex. I’m enjoying it quite a bit.

A few more deals I’ve noticed through the Amazon Digital Deals sale going on now through the end of the month (though it seems some prices have been subject to change prior to the end of the sale, so YMMV):

Crusader Kings Totally Complete No We Really Mean This Is Everything Pack $14.99 (Steam) - CK1 Complete (does not activate on Steam) and CK2 with all DLC (does activate on Steam)

Drakensang - River of Time $2.99 (Steam)The original Drakensang was part of a recent bundle sale, so this would be a nice pickup for folks who grabbed that first one

Storming, Burning, Reflecting, Flaming and Sabotaging Pack $9.99 (Origin) - Contains Bulletstorm, Burnout Paradise Ultimate, Mercenaries 2 : World In Flames, Mirror’s Edge and The Sabotuer.

Lord of the Rings - War In The North $5 (Steam) - Same price as the Steam holiday sales

Risen 2 : Dark Waters $7.49 (Steam)

Crysis 2 : Maximum Edition $7.49 (Origin) - Inlcudes map packs and limited edition unlocks

Let’s Ride : Silver Buckle Stables $2.99 (DRM Free) - Shutup you, DON’T JUDGE ME!!!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!!

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve actually been playing that a fair amount over the past week, and am torn on it.

The core mechanics are pretty good, but the card design and balance is suspect (small card pool; more tilted toward rares than most games; almost all of the neutral cards are terrible compared to faction equivalents; high proportion of vanilla creatures). And it’s pretty light on features (no trade/AH, no sealed/draft play, tiny PvE content), which has kept me from putting money in, especially since the prices are pretty high.

I’m still hoping to get into the betas of Infinity Wars or Card Hunter, though, as those both look very promising.

What was the verdict on Risen 2 for that price? I finished Risen and thought it was entertaining enough to finish.

Wait, this looks like it download from Amazon rather than Steam. :/

from the description:

STEAM Client required to activate.

Oh, I missed that, I saw this at the top:

Note: After purchase, this item is stored and can be downloaded again from Your Games Library.

The game is shit, though.

Bump

Couple more EA deals (all Origin):

Syndicate for $4.99
Crysis Maximum & Crysis 2 Maximum for $11.99
Crysis 3 for $29.99

Has anybody tried The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing the new action RPG, it’s on sale at Steam for $13.49 right now.
There is a good review at Softpedia-http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/games/pc/The-Incredible-Adventures-of-Van-Helsing-Review-355506.shtml

No doubt I will pick it up, as I do all Diablo type games.

Ok thanks… I’m still a bit confused (since I wouldn’t expect to be able to play any missions after the game’s finale), but in the interest of avoiding spoilers, I won’t ask any more questions. :)

Re: The tax discussion: I don’t begrudge my state its sales tax revenue. I was just mentioning it because I’ve never seen internet sales tax added to a digital item, but as Brian said, we should prob save that discussion for another thread.

I think the new-ish games (SoaSE:Rebellion, X3 Albion Prelude, etc.) are priced about the same as I’ve seen in recent Steam sales, but they’ve also got some crazy cheap prices on a few of the older games:
Masters of Orion 2 for $1.36!
Gratuitous Space Battles complete for a mere $5.25?
Space Empires IV for $2.49, and SEV for $4.99?

Also, strangely, Gamersgate is selling Torchlight 2 for $9.98 and Torchlight 1 for $3.74. http://www.gamersgate.com/offers
