Oooh… Sly Cooper Collection for Vita for $10 looks enticing. (I don’t suppose it’s Cross-Buy?)
They had that free weekend a while back and I was all hyped up and ready to go, and then I couldn’t get a single match to start. Looked at the forums and there are a lot of people with problems (per usual, probably). Anyways, I uninstalled and never looked back, glad that the free try-before-you-buy thing actually worked in my favor.

Two Brothers had a lot of positive buzz as well.
GamersGate are having a summer sale, even if it feels more like autumn in the UK. Pages of discounts on many games, including all the Total War titles. The biggest discounts are obviously on more obscure and older titles e.g. 80% off on Disciple 2 Gold, Metro 2033, Monkey Island Complete and Sam and Max Save the World. Disciples 2 Gold at £1.50 UK is a snip for anyone who hasn’t played it.
This ended up being a very nice $3 purchase for a great little FPS.

Please note that Two Brothers is not to be confused with Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons. Not sure if the former is subject to any positive buzz (its Steam page gives it a metacritic score of 57), but I do know that the latter certainly was (metacritic 90).
I have never been able to get Disciples II to run on a modern system. It simply won’t start.
Really? I’ve run it on a Win 7 laptop and a Win 8 desktop. I had more trouble with the first Age of Wonders, which will only run inn windowed mode.

Humble is having a sale: https://www.humblebundle.com/store
There are a few games that look wroth getting for those that don’t have them. Is Gothic 3 or 4 worth getting? The expansions are available too.
What about the Darksiders games? Any opinions? I’m tempted though I’m always confusing Darksiders, Dark Souls and The Darkness when they are on a sale.
I only played the first Darksiders but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s basically a Zelda game, but instead of playing a young elf-like fellow, you’re a brick shithouse who happens to be one of the horsemen of the apocalypse. Also, you get a portal gun toward the end of the game.
I really enjoyed Gothic 3, but skipped 4 as it was made by different devs and sounded terrible.
Um, a few too many combos to be a Zelda game. How about “God of War”-esque? Although I shouldn’t judge; I hated Darksiders 1 and 2.
I admittedly haven’t tried it since upgrading to Win 8, but it’s never worked under Vista or 7 for me.
Been a long time since I played God of War, but I don’t recall Darksiders being terribly reminiscent of that game, personally. It did have way more combos than your average Zelda game, but then when I compared the two I wasn’t necessarily thinking of combat, more the dungeons with their squirreled-away bosses, and the maps and compasses you needed to find everything. And all the pieces of life or whatever they’re called in Darksiders. It all seemed so Zelda to me, which I was ok with, I’m a big Zelda fan.

My sons enjoyed both of them. I haven’t got around to them yet, but they look nice.
PS: nice Gibson reference
I played a couple of hours of 4 once (not mine, so not invested, but still). It was tediously derivative, soul-less and boring, a semi-open world RPG done by the numbers.
Actually, now that I poked at it, I guess Disciples II does run, but only in fullscreen, and it doesn’t support acceptable resolutions for my monitor.

Darksiders 2 is quite good, a huge RPG/brawler/dungeon puzzler mashup with a serviceable art style and a fantastic musical score. I found Darksiders 1 repetitive and boring.

Thanks for the Gothic replies.
I played Darksiders 1. While I thought it was decent, I did get tired of it and quit about halfway through. I didn’t care for the art style of huge blocky characters and too many combos for me. I’m bad at remembering those things, but I could get by well enough. I still need to try Darksiders 2.
