Game’s still probably not worth that, either, especially if you own Civ V already.

It was on sale for the same price by Walmart the day before, and sold out quickly.

Also, Amazon wasn’t trying very hard this year and I think a lot of folks tuned out. I bought a couple of hundred worth from Best Buy, and one thing (this) from Amazon. And I wouldn’t have done that if the podunk Walmart in my wife’s old hometown had any inventory.

I’ll repeat what I said upthread. While it definitely has problems compared to other games in the series, if you get 100-200 hours out of the game, as I did, it’s hard to argue it’s “not worth it.” It suffers in comparison to Civ V, but it does bring new material to the table, and some of it is interesting.

It really turns on how much you like Civ-genre games.

For anyone who purchased Total War : Rome 2 today in either of the sales it was featured in, head over to Humble Bundle’s SEGA bundle and grab the Caesar in Gaul DLC for as little as $1 (plus you get the other stuff in the base tier of the bundle). Caesar in Gaul is a great campaign for Rome 2, and while it’s normally $14.99, and on sale at Steam for 3.74 today, you just can’t beat $1.00…

Ah, it got me. Fantasy 4X games are like the platinum blonde at the bar who catches my eye and gives me the come hither look. I now have hithered on over.

I have to agree with Otagan, but I’ll add that there are aspects of Beyond Earth that are worth experiencing. That said, I don’t think those things are worth a purchase. While Civ V isn’t my favorite Civ, it is better as a whole when compared to BE. While you may get a number of hours out of BE, I think those hours are better spent on other games.

Dammit, sure wish that would happen for me!

None of my games ever gave me a come hither look.

What really matters is what comes after. I’ve had plenty of games flirt with me and then turn out to be just a tease later.

Combat is a bit shit, though, right? Love 4X, but need the exterminate to be compelling. Reviews are less than sanguine on that aspect of the game. What’s the story?

The BTA amount at Humble right now happens to be $3.74, so that amount will net you the above, as well as a copy of Empire: Total War, the Oberkommando standalone mp pack for CoH2, and some mystery game(s) to be added to the bundle. Plus, a portion of your tiny payment will go to charity!

It’s gotten better, but the actual fighting is not terribly exciting imho. It sure is a hell of a lot more thrilling than Civ’s combat has ever been, though.

I agree with both of the posters above. In short, if there was a good alpha-centauri mod for Civ V, I am convinced it would be a better overall game than Beyond Earth.

Alien: Isolation, one of the best games of the year, is $20 on Greenman Gaming VIP.

It’s not a huge deal, but I used to love a game called Abomination, but lost my disks in a move. I had nooooo idea it was available digitally until I saw it on GamersGate for $5!! I had to have it!

Or $15 (and not region-locked) on Nuuvem.br. (If you’re comfortable doing that sort of thing.)

If only that were true. “Not available in your region”

That’s interesting! I ordered Dark Souls 2 there, and it went through without a hitch… wonder if it’s this specific title or a change in their policy?

Ghosts for $15 is proving ok in SP so far… I had no idea I got a cyberdoggie :)

Try using Hola or another VPN to connect from a Brazilian IP. The game itself is definitely not region-locked. I’ve registered it on Steam and everything.

Hola works, thanks. I tried with ZenMate, which is my usual goto VPN, but it didn’t work with any country I tried (Brazil not being an option). Hola has come a long way since I last used it! Slick.
