Fixed the recommendation. Sorry Brian, it’s just that someone actually played ORB and liked it and it was you, so it stuck in my mind.
It’ll be another year before I stop bringing up The Last Express on sales, if Disciples 2 is a historical guide. Speaking of which…
I have Last Express on GOG, so I’m probably set, but it does appear that the version on Steam is “Gold Edition” that has a hint system, revamped UI, and some little unlockables. Do any of these things make a substantial difference in the game?
Speaking of GOG, all kinds of killer deals in their sale today. Bundles for Impressions builders, Might and Magic, Gabriel Knight, Settlers…
I’ve almost bought Settlers II a hundred times, but I never pull the trigger because I don’t know which version to go for: Gold Edition or the 10th Anniversary? I’m sure I’ve asked in another thread somewhere, too, so pardon my laziness in asking again.

10th Anniversary. They did it right. They updated it without touching the mechanics. New music / graphics / better interface, but it is still Settlers 2 :)
Pretty decent Every Monday Bundle over at IndieGala this week. Only $1.89 for the first 24 hours to own Steam keys for:
[ul]
[li]Deadlings : Rotten Edition[/li][li]Crimsonland[/li][li]Nom Nom Galaxy (Early Access)[/li][li]Retro Pixel Castles (Early Access)[/li][li]Muffin Knight[/li][li]Super Trench Attack[/li][/ul]
Note that Super Trench Attack, Deadlings and Crimsonland all have Trading Cards, so sale of those could make the bundle essentially no cost…
Over at BundleStars.com they have a new Killer Bundle with 10 Steam keys for $4.99:
[ul]
[li]STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl[/li][li]Demonicon : The Dark Eye[/li][li]Pixel Piracy[/li][li]Year Walk[/li][li]Alone in the Dark (2008 remake)[/li][li]Albedo : Eyes from Outer Space[/li][li]Kraven Manor[/li][li]FATE : The Cursed King[/li][li]Loren the Amazon Princess[/li][li]Real Boxing[/li][/ul]
5 out of 10 have Steam Trading Cards. STALKER, Demonicon and Lauren are the high points in this bundle, and FATE is an awesome action RPG with pets and fishing and stuff that is great for kids (and adults).
GreenManGaming Deal of the Day is a two-pack of Civilization 5 scenarios (Inca and Spanish) for only $1.89.
Also, in that Steam Weeklong Deals page is a hidden gem. The 1C War Games Collection is only $6.99 and contains:

If anyone buys this and doesn’t want Lauren Amazon Princess I’d gladly throw you a couple bucks via Paypal for that key. Only game in the list I have interest in that I don’t have.

Not a videogame, but what the hell-- Amazon has the Harmony Smart Control hub+remote on sale the cheapest it’s ever been at $80. I have one and love it-- I don’t use my smartphone as the remote, I use the included remote, which fits great in the hand, is fully programmable like all harmony remotes, and the battery lasts for over a year.
The remote is RF, and the hub emits very strong IR signals that will work from any direction. The hub will also control a PS3 or FireTV over bluetooth and a Roku over wifi, which is pretty neat. I’m very happy with this product.
Edit: Sorry, deal just ran out. They have the full harmony home control (with home automation) on sale for $113 still, though.

It was super odd to buy a console and have a load of games to install instead of just whatever one game I bought with it. I like plus more and more.
Mostly adds things to multiplayer I see. Most relevant to me, I see it adds wide screen support for the text, interface and help files. Sounds like a must-have for most modern monitors.

Best Buy this week has buy 2, get 1 free for Xbox & PS games. Gamers Club Unlocked does apply if you have it, so you can pick up 3 games for around $100.
Sorry, handheld & WiiU are out in the cold.
I always found those B2G1 sales a very dubious value. Let’s say it is three new releases, so $60 each, you’re getting three games for $120 plus tax, so around $130 for 3, That’s around $43 per game. Not bad, but not great. And the value gets worse if one of the games you’re getting is older and has dropped in price already.

I ended up picking up Xillia 2, Kingdom Hearts 2.5, and Sleeping Dogs Xbone from Best Buy yesterday, but only because a friend was looking to save a few bucks on Sleeping Dogs. I would’ve been in for a lot more if Wii U/Vita/3DS were included - probably some combination including Smash, Bayonetta, and Hyrule Warriors. Shame.

I usually pass, but I got AC Unity, CoD:AW, and Dragon Age Inquisition to fill out the gift requests. Could have added new releases like The Crew or The Halo Collection. None of these had significant discounts during Black Friday sales, and $40 each is as cheap as they will get before Christmas by my reckoning.
Giving Best Buy $30 for 2 years of 20% discount on all new games has already paid for itself and then some. That brings it down to less than $33 each and all of a sudden I’m the cool uncle that gives the hot games as presents.
