It was a purposefully silly plot though and in my opinion well executed.

I’m a pretty big tower defense fan and this is one of my favorite.

I liked it a lot too. I don’t know if it’s changed since I played it, but the balance can get out of whack so some missions become very easy. If I remember correctly you can play each mission with harder objectives for more rewards, but if you do so advancing the campaign missions becomes very easy in places.
