I hear this opinion occasionally. What’s actually wrong with DotEmu?

From the Killer Bundle 6: Lichdom, GemCraft, and Monstrum all look interesting and worthwhile.

WARNING: Battle vs. Chess (renamed Check vs. Mate now) has very invasive DRM with 1 installation and you need to contact publisher and provide information to reinstall the game.

Low quality and buggy ports.

If anyone’s jonesing for the current Assassin’s Creed offering (set in pseudo-Victorian London), it’s Amazon’s DotD today for $29.99, apparently all versions, US only. I assume the PC version is Uplay-bound.

It is Uplay-bound. Uplay seems to be highly unassuming on my PC lately though. I have no complaints.

Also this is clearly the best Assassin’s Creed to date, and being the AC series fanboi that I am, I don’t say that lightly.

DotEmu is best known for releasing arcade “ports” that are actually using outdated versions of MAME in a wrapper and that are often even further from arcade-accurate than is the norm for MAME. To use an example that isn’t in this bundle, the games in Double Dragon Trilogy don’t have the native hardware slowdown from the arcade originals, which is hilarious when you’re talking about games that are usually balanced around having said native slowdown.

That said, $10 for The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match and The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match (neither of which are infected with DotEmu badness, and both of which might go for $10 on sale individually), plus a bunch of other things that will probably at least give me trading cards to sell at some point? Don’t mind if I do!

As for that new Bundle Stars bundle, that $5 is a no-brainer just for all those Apogee games (that bundle’s previous lowest price was $10, and several of those games still hold up nicely) and GemCraft: Chasing Shadows, the most recent entry in one of the coolest tower defense series around that isn’t called Immortal Defense.

And if you want Gemcraft it turns out I already own it so PM me.

Yes, the KOF UM games are the best in the series. I seriously doubt KOFXIV joins the UM games from what I have seen so far. That said I’ve seen those games for as low as $5 each. and a 98-02-XIII bundle for $15 (XIII is good even if I don’t like it)

DotEmu basically stole someone’s emulator to make those games.

In that case, buying this bundle will make me feel better about using the latest MAME with those games! Good to know.

And the weekend Humble Bundle is the Total War series (again):

It’s a great value at every tier though.

$1 min. for:
[ul]
[li]Medieval II : Total War Collection (this is worth owning just to play the LoTR total mod “The Third Age”)
[/li][li]Shogun : Total War Collection (the original classic, remastered for Steam)
[/li][li]Viking : Battle for Asgard
[/li][li]Total War : Rome Original Soundtrack
[/li][li]Total War : Warhammer Illustrated Campaign Map
[/li][li]Total War : ARENA 30-day Premium account and exclusives
[/li][li]Total War Battles : KINGDOM - exclusive heraldry and 1000 silver + 1000 stone
[/li][li]Total War eBooks
[/li][/ul]

BTA (currently $6.64) and receive:
[ul]
[li]Medieval : Total War Collection
[/li][li]Empire : Total War Collection
[/li][li]Napoleon : Total War Collection
[/li][li]Total War : Shogun 2 Collection
[/li][li]Total War : ARENA Premium Spartan Hoplite unit
[/li][li]Humble Store Coupon for 66% off Total War : Attila
[/li][/ul]

Pay $15 and unlock:
[ul]
[li]Total War : Rome II Emperor Edition
[/li][li]Rome II Wrath of Sparta Campaign
[/li][li]Rome II Caesar in Gaul Campaign
[/li][li]Rome II Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack
[/li][li]Rome II Pirates and Raiders Culture Pack
[/li][/ul]

The BTA is especially generous. Even the $15 tier is like getting the Rome II campaign and culture packs free with a Steam Sale price on the base game (and Emperor Edition is fantastic, no more bugs). There is even a $30 tier that includes a cool t-shirt shipped free worldwide. It’s too bad I already own EVERYTHING in this bundle, 'cause I really like that t-shirt, but not $30 worth of like… ;-)

Dark Souls 2 Sotfs for $16 from Gamersgate

Historical low price I believe.

I was terrible, TERRIBLE at Dark Souls, couldn’t stand it, so I don’t know WHY I’m interested in this.

Because it’s awesome! You can do it. You don’t need to be fast (generally). I kinda wish all action RPGs had Dark Souls combat.

Only one, the original version which - modded up - is much better than BFG version they put out a while back where they essentially removed all the atmospheric lighting effects from the original for some strange reason. The extra campaign included in the BFG version is not - by all accounts - very good at all.

Because you need to redeem yourself, and make amends for your terrible failure.

Half a dozen more items just added to the Humble NEOGEO 25th Anniversary Bundle. BTA on this has risen to $9.31, making it pretty much a no-brainer to buy in at the $10 top tier level if you’re at all interested.

Fairly light week for Bargains this week. Steam Winter Sale starts in exactly 1 week from today (Dec. 22).
