Groupees VN bundle launches in three hours and now has a preorder available. $8 gets you a full bundle on release, which confirms that the full bundle will be $10, if not higher EDIT: Apparently Groupees confirmed that the highest tier will be $20. Good preorder deal!
I was already going to get the highest tier, so I preordered, but I don’t recommend it if you aren’t already committed to the genre and if you’re interested in the genre at all, I expect it’ll be a great deal to get some commercial-quality VNs.
Visual novels. We have a thread for them over here.

Visual Novel - interactive voiced manga / anime. Often laced with hentai content. Both pre-revealed games are 18+.
Five minutes until it goes live, hurry!
(Thanks for the heads up, WarpRattler - although I feel a bit uncomfortable after pre-purchasing School Days)
Condoms help protect against them.

With names like Cosplay Fetish Academy, who would have guessed?
Full bundle launched, and, uh, it’s really weak. With the lead-up and high preorder price, I expected it to have one or two other newer releases like Steins;Gate or Yumina the Eternal, or maybe popular older titles like Family Project or Saya no Uta, instead of a bunch of weak porn games.
$3:
Yo-Jin-Bo ~ The Bodyguards (the only all-ages game in the lot)
The Sagara Family
$10:
Moero Downhill Night
My Girlfriend Is The President (the only interesting title in here for me, which isn’t saying much, but at least I spent $2 less than it would’ve cost otherwise)
Cosplay Fetish Academy
$20:
School Days HQ
This is the weakest non-indie bundle I’ve seen in a very long time, and is very disappointing after the strength of the previous Groupees VN bundle.
The speculation was that it was going to be either Yo-Jin-Bo or Steins;Gate, the problem being that the latter is faaar more interesting than the former. And guess which we got? Blah.
I need to stop listening to you guys about what is apparently deals on hentai porn games. :P
Edit: $8 for porn?! j/k
Speaking of things other than anime/manga ones, is Doom 3 BFG any good and worth almost 7 bucks? I’ve never played it. Or should I just get the cheaper non BFG version?
I love Steins;Gate the anime… did it make for/come from a good VN? Should I be interested in that?
The VN came first, and is all-ages.
The general rule with anime adaptations of visual novels is that the VN is loads better. I haven’t seen or played Steins;Gate yet, but by all accounts, the rule still seems to apply.

Generally speaking people prefer the non-BFG version, since the BFG version makes the game easier by both attaching a flashlight to your guns, and scattering a bunch more health and ammo packs everywhere. Non-BFG version also has mod support while BFG version doesn’t, so if you’re so inclined you can get all the wacky texture packs and such.
BFG includes the expansion, a few more levels, original games, controller support, and some qualify of life gameplay changes for more casual players.
Base game is a bit scarier (darker areas, flashlight stuff) and supports mods.
I almost got BFG but I’m glad I did some research - they PORTED Doom 3 to the consoles to make the BFG edition, and then ported BACK that edition to the PC - everything from textures to sound effects are down-sampled and you can’t even really mod it nearly as easily (it wasn’t even moddable when it first came out) as vanilla Doom 3.
Get vanilla Doom 3 and grab the Absolute HD 1.6 mod - it’s a single installation .exe and then from the game menu, go to Mod’s and activate it (you can also create a shortcut to launch the game into the Absolute HD 1.6 mod directly) and off you go. It’s REALLY cool.
The visual novel is amazing, it goes into a lot more detail on a lot of stuff the anime skipped or quickly glossed over. I think it took me about 40 hours to complete all the routes, couldn’t get enough of it. The PC version is out now, Vita and PS3 release is August 31st, although you could just import the UK version for the same price on Amazon now. Highly recommended for anyone that digs a really good time travel story.

No worries, this is all part of the plan. I read the bargain thread a few days behind so that all the deals have expired by the time I see them and save money :)
GTA V on Steam just went on sale for $39.99. It might be a price mistake, since it’s listed as a Midweek Madness special (it’s the weekend!), and they were so stingy with the discounts during the recent summer sale.
