There have been two notable exceptions for me, and both fit the mold of being very fun and playable as they were. Basically I have to view the game as worth it in it’s current state, even if no more development ever happened on it.

Those two were Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program. They were worth the price I paid, when I bought them. So them being early access was no big deal to me. Otherwise? I avoid it completely.

I’m going to use my orifice slot to smuggle Tyndale Bibles into England.

Generally I agree with this but there are exceptions. Dirt Rally, for instance, is playable now, lots of fun, and if you bought it early, you got a good price.

I guess there are some exceptions. I did pay for Minecraft early on. That was the only one for me though. I downloaded the free Speedrunners multiplayer on PC, another game seemingly in perpetual Early Access, but man, when you’re putting your alphas and betas on sale, something is really wrong with the business model or the audience. I’m not sure which…

I bought many games in Early Access (first one was Mount & Blade, actually, before the name “Early Access” was even invented), and there are few I regret buying. However, I mostly avoid buying Early Access nowadays because 1) there are too many, and 2) the signal-to-noise ratio was much better a couple years ago or so. ;)

PSN Summer Sale Week 2: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/08/04/ps-store-summer-sale-week-2-assassins-creed-unity-project-almanac-more/

I got my hopes up after seeing a whole bunch of NIS PSP games, but got down to the end of the list, and sadly no ZHP. Thinking of trying Cladun or its sequel for $2-3 – any consensus on which is better? And this might be cheap enough that I should finally try out a Disgaea game, as all of them are on sale, but don’t know which one.

ZHP is worth full price, just saying.

Don’t sleep on R-Type Dimensions in that sale. $5 is a steal for a great way to play R-Type both original and remastered.

I also bought Strider 2 because I could never justify $70 or more for an original copy, but it’s a great game. Comes with the first included too. GrimGrimoire is another PS2 gem with lots of beautiful hand drawn art from Vanillaware. Not as pricey, but well worth playing.

You can start with the first one (Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness) for PSP. That game introduces the 3 most well-known Disgaea characters, and introduces the prinny mythos. Disgaea Infinite and Disgaea D2 (DD2) are direct sequels of D1. D2/3/4 are not related, and my vote goes to D4 for the overall best to play, for no particular reason except it’s the most recent one I’m playing.

LOL Disgaea 2 is on sale, finally. “WHAT DIMENSION AM I IN?!!??”

There’s some kind of an assault on my wallet this week. There’s Danganronpa 1 + 2 in that PSN sale (60% off for plus members), and listed on a different blog post, there are Pinball Arcade season 1 & 2 for 1/2 price for PS4. And then there’s Fairy Fencer F on Steam for 50% off, which is targeted to me as a Nep Nep fan.

… I can’t seem to find ZHP on the store. Has it been removed?

EDIT: Guided Fate Paradox and Awakened Fate Ultimatum are spiritual sequels to ZHP, and are PS3 games on sale this week. That’s another one or two more for me…

Some Paradox stuff on sale at GMG. Vanilla EU IV 80% off, Pillars of Eternity for $30. Others too. You may find a bargain.

Steam today: 3D Realms Anthology - $23.99 - 40% off.
Relive those good old Shareware years with the best Apogee/3D Realms titles, like Blake Stone, Duke Nukem, Balls of Steel, etc etc
Steam weekend #1: Invisible Inc - $11.99 - 40% off.

EDIT Steam weekend #2: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja STORM sale.
3 Full Burst - $7.49 - 75% off.
Revolution - $12.49 - 75% off.
Revolution DLCs are $0.99 each - 50% off.
hmmm wasn’t there a “4”? Oh well it’s more of the same. My 2 neighbours love the bejeebus out of this series…
Get it. Get it now.

Seconded. Invisible Inc is fantastic.

I asked the same elsewhere, and was told they’re not worth bothering with, even that cheap.

I bought every PSP Disgaea. $22 instead of the usual $75 for games that basically never go on sale, and the only one I already owned a retail copy of was Infinite, which was incredibly cheap to rebuy. I can now play every Disgaea game except D2 on my Vita (or my incoming PSTV)!

Pillars of Eternity is $27 on the Mac App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pillars-of-eternity/id979217373?mt=12

GMG has 23% off voucher (SAVE23-WITHGM-GAUG15) going on now, and a few games on sale that caught my eye:

Metro Redux Bundle $9.99, $7.69 after voucher.
Flockers $4.99, $3.85 after voucher.
Ryse: Son of Rome $13.49, $10.39 after voucher.
The Witcher 3 $29.99, $ 23.10 after voucher.
Pillars of Eternity Hero Edition $30.14, $ 23.21 after voucher.
And lots of stuff on the VIP page, but vouchers don’t work for those games.

Best buy will have a 40 inch HDTV and XboxOne bundle for $500 the week of 8/9.

Still too pricey for me (I don’t need the TV and I don’t want the One all that badly, no scloozies I need yet), but if these type of things keep showing up (and I feel like selling a TV on criagslist) I’ll eventually bite, even if only for cuphead.

Good deal for someone though!

That could be interesting. I don’t need the TV, and if I could craigslist it for $300-350, that would essentially be $100-$150 off the XBO. (more or less dependent on which XBO bundle it is)

Might finally pick up Battle Brothers with that GMG coupon. Maybe. Possibly.

So I can get Blackguards, its DLC, and Blackguards 2 for less than US$ 10 (or US$ 13.74 for those in the US). Worth it?
