You will either love or hate Blackguards and by all accounts Blackguards 2 is more of the same. I played the first one for a couple of hours and thought it was the most execrable strategy game I had played in many years. I found it to be based on luck more than skill, punishing to the extreme and devoid of any enjoyment whatsoever.
So, I guess you hated it? :)
Thanks for answering my question, I appreciate that.
I liked it a bit more than Granath did, but it’s not really a “great” game or anything. Kind of a neat little time killer if you’re bored and waiting for something to come out that you are actually excited for, maybe. It gets tedious pretty quick, and I think after 7 or so hours I was more than happy to uninstall it. But for $10, if you enjoy strategy games? Yeah, it’s probably worth checking out. Watch some youtube footage first, maybe, like jump into part 3 or 4 of a let’s play series and get a sense of the first hour of the game, or something.
Nah, I have a huge backlog. I would buy it at that price if it was amazing (or at least unique enough to withstand its flaws), but if it’s not, I’ll pass or wait for it to show on the inevitable Humble Bundle. Thanks!

I really liked it and had a lot of fun with it, of course on hard difficulty. BG2 was more streamlined and had much better storytelling and it’s one of the few games in which you can really play a bad character.
But I guess this proves Granath’s point. ;)
BG1 is basically a TB puzzle game (on hard) with an enormous amount of really different maps. If you can accept that some are a bit gimmicky (oil in the water at a convenient place, a switch takes 3 turns to lower a bridge, etc.), the quality of the maps is pretty high on average. Actually it won’t be easy to find a game with a better average map quality. What many players found hard to swallow though was that most RPG time-wasters (walking through a town, exploration, looting) were made extremely fast, putting the focus clearly on TB combat, character development, story and nothing else.
BG2 feels more like a good RTS campaign, just as TB, if you know what I mean. So saying BG2 is MOTS is incorrect, I think.
BG1 gets easier to get into if you have played a The Dark Eye game before, for example Drakensang. The character development has the same basis.
If you’ve just been itching to try Goat Simulator, it’s your lucky day…the Android version is free over at Amazon, together with a bunch of other apps.
Are you using the Amazon Appstore (and not the Amazon shopping app)?
You have to download and install it outside of Google Play store - the app on the Play store is for buying actual physical things or somesuch - I think Google forced all the third-party app-stores off Google Play a while back. Means you also have to update it separately :P
It says to visit amazon.com/mobileapps from your Android Phone - I can see Goat simulator for download in mine. You might also need to refresh your apps list inside the app.
Can you please provide a link to the Amazon Appstore? I’m losing my shit here because Google will not pull it up. All it pulls up is a web page, not an Android app.
Thanks… I followed your link but it doesn’t pull up the Amazon Appstore. The page lists a dozen or so apps, starting with Android Appstore (by Stonebench Appz), Amazon for Tablets, Amazon, Amazon App Tester (by Amazon!), The Appstore (by FOM Developer), etc…
Why would my phone not pull up the Amazon Appstore?
I got a similar result to you. Does the following (on mobile) work any better? I pulled it off my phone just now. There should be a big “download app store” button. https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/androidapp/ref=mas_gs_mbl_redir
That just opens my Amazon app. Maybe that’s it? Amazon app works both for purchasing physical things and as the Amazon Appstore?
Yup, that’s it.
Thanks guys.

Wasn’t someone here looking for A Wolf Among Us? It’s on sale at GMG for $8.49. Might be able to use the voucher on top of that. This is the version that uses a Telltale account, not steam. It’s also $6.24 at WinGameStore.
Both places have other Telltale games on sale too, including GAme of Thrones.
Not a bargain, per se, but for another 16 hours the Steam version of Warhammer Quest is approximately the price it was on iOS ($6, or $12 with all the DLC) instead of almost triple. At that price it’s a pretty fun little timewaster with some nice touches.

Anyone play Crowntakers? It’s on sale for $3.75 on Steam. The main complaint seems to be that it is pretty grindy and that if you grind enough you can win.
FortressCraft Evolved is $1.65 over on GMG after using the 23% voucher they have going on. (SAVE23-WITHGM-GAUG15) This game is leaving early access soon.
