With the EA contract complete, it may even get Porsches soon too…

Cross-posted from The Division’s thread, free weekend and a sale incoming. It’s cheaper to buy a boxed copy from Amazon however.

The last computer book deal from Humble I linked to got some fans, so here’s another one. A bunch of interesting looking game development books from Apress.

Oh, and if you’re a Neil Gaiman fan, they still have a bundle of his ebooks going for another week or so.

Looks like the disc version too, but that will be just Xbox One.

This was the one game that almost had me buy a Wii U… almost.

Does anyone know if this port works well on modern OSs?
Also I played this partially once in the past, and got stuck at some point. Is this a really good game because I was not motivated to give it another try.

It was one of my favorite RPGs, but I have unusual tastes.

Dominions 4: Thrones of Ascension is currently 85% off at GamersGate, which is $5.25 for those of us in the United States.

Don’t know how it works on modern OSes, but Arcanum was one of my favorites also. I don’t know how amazing it is now, but I remember being super impressed with there being combat and noncombat ways to solve many of the obstacles. I actually still have my paper manual around here somewhere.

If you missed any of the games Ubi was giving away over the last year or so, they’re all free again this weekend:

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Splinter Cell
Rayman Origins
The Crew
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Assassin’s Creed 3
Beyond Good & Evil

Through the Uplay app.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Conquest of Elysium 4 on sale too for $7.50

GOG says their version of Arcanum runs on Win 8, so 10 is a possibility. I’ll install it and check it out later when I have time.

That’s tempting, but I didn’t find CoE 3 that compelling. That being said, I’d like to support Illwinter, even if it’s only to get a game on sale.

That’s mostly how I feel, but it seems like they did improve some aspects of the game. One big problem is the UI and how clunky it is to examine and compare units. Adam brings that up above and is definitely a problem I have with the game.

I enjoyed my time with CoE 3, so I’ll probably pick up #4. Thanks for the heads up.

Is Dominions still not really a game for single-player? That price seems really good.

What I’ve been told and I did play it some a while back is that you can get a lot of hours out of it learning the systems and trying the different factions. If you like that kind of game my guess is that you;d get your monies worth.

I recently fired up the GoG version of Arcanum. It has some issues, but there are some wacky command line options you can give it to work around them. Alt-tab is still out of the question, though. I’m not at my PC right now, but they were easy enough to google up.

That aside, the game comes with a nearly 300 page manual and is not intuitive enough to pick up without reading it. I’m not sure I have the patience to wade through the manual.

The combat improvements in CoE4 over CoE3 are, in very large part, what makes CoE4 > CoE3. I will never go back to CoE3.

It’s always been a decent single player game. So the AI is prone to exploits, but it’ll be some time before you get to that point.
