I picked up The Witness. I usually wait until games are ultracheap these days, but I’m all about promoting a style of game that I hope keeps going and I’ll have to wait until next week for Civ VI to arrive anyway. Like what I see so far, although I do get motion sickness from it. Had to adjust the FoV a bit to see if I can calm it down.
You’re not contributing to my resolve, Equisilus… :)
I do have a few Steam bucks cluttering up my account, hmm… but Civ 6 is out in 18 hours!
Pretty good new Humble Bundle:
PWYW tier:
Chroma Squad (Power Rangers-styled retro RPG)
Odalus: The Dark Call (retro-styled platformer that’s gotten solid buzz as I recall)
Technobabylon (cyberpunk adventure game from Wadjet Eye who generally turn out quality stuff)
BTA tier:
Spaera (never heard of it, early access - head to head character-based match 3 apparently - they refer to it as a puzzle game but since it has no puzzles that I can tell I feel this is a misnomer)
Westerado: Double Barreled (lo-fi Western hunt for revenge - very well regarded with a number of innovative mechanics)
Assault Android Cactus (very well regarded twin stick shooter)
$12+:
Unbox (3d physics platformer I’ve never heard of and cannot imagine being interested in…but it’s there if you want)
Also, the Bundle of Holding (bundleofholding.com) has a couple of Trail of Cthulhu bundles up for those who might like a big passel of PDFs of a very solid Lovecraftian investigatory RPG, created by the legendary Kenneth Hite based on Robin Laws’ Gumshoe system (and with supplements by both plus other Pelgrane folks). The first (resurrected) offer is the core system and a couple splatbooks and adventure collections. The second is mainly adventures (including the Eternal Lies campaign & the music by James Semple written for it) but with the Player’s Guide just in case you need it, I guess. One or both might well be useful in a future season of the Tabletop RPG Club, just saying. At least, it’s certainly something I’d like to see selected at some point.

I liked it on PS4, anime-flavored cutscenes, bullet-hell-lite gameplay.
Greenmangaming has a halloween sale. Some nice deals if you want to dig. Their 50 cent halloween bundle has a 10% off voucher for your next purchase.
https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/halloween-4-game-pack/
(Games: Corporate Lifestyle Simulator, Huntsman Orphanage, Lifeless, Three Dead Zed)
I’ll recommend Resident Evil Revelations 2, probably my favorite game from last year. Episode 1 was in a recent humble bundle. The other three episodes are only 69 cents each. Everything else isn’t worth buying unless you love the raid mode. RER2’s bigger packages are region locked to somewhere EU. Looks like it was a price error, now 3 each.
Does that voucher work on games that already have a discount?
It should yes, the offer specifically states the voucher is good for the Halloween Sale.
Some deals it might be worth grabbing the 4-pack voucher for:
- Warhammer : The End Times - Vermintide is $13.57 (55%)
- Mad Max is $6.79 (77%)
- Life Is Strange : Complete is $9.99 (50%)
- The Secret World is $9.29 (69%)
- Blackguards Franchise Bundle is $7.57 (86%)
- Iceburg Interactive X Strategy Bundle is $31.99 (85%) - contains Endless Space : Emperor, Endless Legend : Classic, Lords of the Black Sun, StarDrive 1 & 2, Armada Gold and Horizon.
I have Assault Android Cactus on PC. Highly recommended.
That’s a great price for Mad Max…
I see the Skyrim DLC needed for the free special edition is $9 on Instant Gaming. Main game also cheap.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is free on Xbox One to keep. The free offer will be valid through the weekend.
I think it’s a 3-day free trial? The messages in that thread you linked are conflicted on this topic, whether it’s free to keep or a 3-day free trial, and will go away once the 3 days are up.
Is it free to keep or just a free weekend?
The info has been unclear and vague. On Major Nelson’s blog:
Speaking of delivering, how about a free Xbox One game to play with your friends during this event? Not a problem. Xbox is also giving all Xbox Live members free access to play Borderlands: The Handsome Collection now through October 30. Experience the highest performance and highest fidelity graphics for any Borderlands game ever on console, and invite your friends over to enjoy the game’s four-player split-screen mode, all in stunning high definition.
Nice. Will definitely download this - had some fun with the first Borderlands co-op with my kid.
According to MS’s site, “Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is the essential Borderlands compilation and includes the definitive versions of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel…”
How is it an essential compilation without the first game? Wonder why they didn’t remaster that one.
Hmm. Good question.
I guess it does no harm to click the button to “buy” it, then see how it goes on Monday. The worst that could happen is it’s no longer free, so you wasted a couple of seconds clicking.
Hell, I think I click every Games for Gold offer regardless of whether or not I’m going to ever play them.

It might have been a factor that Borderlands was one of the first BC titles and was a Game With Gold. 2K just didn’t see a percentage in a remaster of a BC game that a significant fraction of the installed base already had.
I do notice that neither B2 or the pre-sequel have shown up as BC.
True, I clicked it earlier in the day thinking it was a price error. There is a lot of confusion about this offer online right now.
Generally speaking, I always click to grab every GwG offer because who knows if I may be interested at some point and hey, free game right? Only exception being that wrestling game offered a month or two back because screw that noise, seriously.
Regarding the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection deal on Xbox One. Major Nelson responded on Reddit:
It’s free to play this weekend only. If you want to play beyond that you’ll need to purchase it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/59lr8j/free_borderlands_the_handsome_collection_unlock/d9afckt/
The good news is you don’t need Gold to get it and non-Gold members can play freely online this weekend.
