I went to my local BB last year, and found it surprisingly well run. I was able to get in, grab the games I was after, and leave in less than half an hour. The line was long, but moved quickly. But then, I wasn’t after a “doorbuster” or any of the truly ridiculously low-priced items.
The wife and kids were in Branson, MO, visiting her folks on Thanksgiving, and my son was able to get a $150 50-inch set pretty easily by getting in line outside the store a few hours early. Perhaps the sticks are the way to go.
Target, in contrast, was a disorganized mess.

Target.com is running 10% off electronics today only which would knock 40 bucks off a PS4 Pro.

Black Friday at GMG has begun
Be sure to sign in because there are additional VIP discounts on some titles. So far I’m looking at War for the Overworld for $8.55, but I may hold off a day or two to see what Steam has to say.
Apparently GMG is offering daily deeper discounts, and I’m not clear at this point which deals are today only and which will run for a week.
My wallet and free time are not ready!
Man, GMG is being hammered looks like. Wow.
I recently started using IsThereAnyDeal.com after Steam stupidly didn’t email me that my wishlist games were on sale. Now I see they don’t seem to be able to poll GMG for prices. So I have to slum it on a hammered website like the unwashed masses. With daily deals, no less.
Two steps forward, one step back.
GMG’s site is running like back in the days when they had the hamster wheel powered servers.
I think I saw the upcoming Space Hulk Deathwing game for $26 ish , tempting meeeee.
I’ve used IsThereAnyDeal for a long time and love it. I think their handling of GMG got screwed recently with the GMG pricing shift where your deals are tied to a log in. I think they may show the prices before you log in, which are useless.
Trying to repost this as a reply to TimJames since I can’t edit the original one (which I’ve deleted) to make it a reply but Discourse is telling me it’s “too similar to something I just posted”. So here’s a couple sentences for Discourse to allow me to do a workaround for a rule that is a stopping me from doing a workaround to a missing feature. Awesome.
I’ve gotten the first 3 BF deal pages to load so far. I’ve pasted the deals I’ve seen to this file:
http://txt.do/d5n1h
The first price is the “normal” price, and the second one the sale price. Plus you can get an extra 10% off using some BF promo code I forgot. The main page had some deals too but I didn’t copy them and now I can’t get it to load again. GTA IV for $6.50, GTA V for $30 or something, plus some others.
In other news, GamersGate’s BF sales are up and you can actually load that site.

Could this Mafia 3 + Season Pass deal be real ($35.79) at GMG? It’s cheaper than the version without the season pass. It doesn’t specify a region. The game does have a separate version for the EU than the US.

Xbox Live has it for $37 now as part of their Black Friday sale. This version is Play Anywhere Windows 10/Xbox One, versus the version that will be on sale at Best Buy on Thanksgiving for $30. So I think it’s worth the $7 premium for me, if I’m going to get this, to get the version which gives you the game on both platforms.

Speaking of Play Anywhere games, I noticed Forza Horizon 3 is on sale for $39 on Xbox Live. That also gets you the PC and Xbox One versions.
Unfortunately Recore still seems to be full price. Maybe they’ll put that on sale later in the week?

If you buy a Play Anywhere game, does the WIndows 10 version actually take advantage of PC hardware to give a better experience or is it the same as the Xbox version? I could not find this question asked or answered by anyone when I Googled it, surprisingly.
It takes advantage of PC hardware. If your machine can handle it, you’ll get higher resolutions, for instance, and better framerates. I don’t know if they did any higher resolution textures than Xbox One. Probably not, but I don’t know.
Edit: Digital Foundry’s Xbox One vs PC face-off.
Digital Foundry also looks at Forza Horizon 3 on both platforms. Looks like in both cases, the PC version scales down well and scales up well too.
Its real and you can take another 10% off that price, crazy good deal for Mafia 3!
