BTW, it sounds like Steam will have a short Halloween Sale between 10-29 and the morning of 11/1…and then an Autumn sale to correspond to Thanksgiving/Black Friday before the full blown Holiday sale.

Traditionally, those sales were terrible. Only holiday and summer sales were great.
These days, none of the steam sales are particularly special, though.

Well, they have just gotten worse, to be fair.
I remember they used to be a broad swath of things at 75% to even 90% off. Now it’s all 20-33% off, and the deeper discounts are at 50% level.
Or maybe i’m just focused too much on the 8 billion shitty Paradox game expansions.
I haven’t seen that at all. Maybe newer games, there are shallow (or no) discounts. But I see a large number – even a majority of games on the front page of my store page – for games discounted 50-75%.

In fairness, I focus only on major titles, and kind of mentally ignore shovelware stuff and the tons of variants of roguelikes and X Simulators and all that other junk.

Loot Crate and Discord announced their subscription services like 1 day apart. I’m finding that between Humble, PS+, Twitch Prime and Origin Access that I’m constantly getting dupes. I have like 4 copies of Oxenfree. I feel like the more services out there the more that is going to be a problem.
