Tired: Steam sales

Wired: $12 for Rebel Galaxy Outlaw on Epic.

Pardon the sidetrack here, but if I buy Rebel Galaxy Outlaw on Epic, is it possible by adding it to my Steam client and play it with Steam Link on my TV? I really wanted to hold out for a console release so I could get the “big screen” and surround sound full effect, but if I can make it happen with my current setup, I’ll drop a few bucks now, why not?

Yep, I believe you can add it as a non-steam game.

Do they work in Big Picture mode?

How does RDR2 launch - I suppose Epic and Steam both just launch the Rockstar launcher?

Last I heard, non-Steam games get streamed at 30 fps.

It USED to work that way, but since the launch of the next-gen Steam client I’ve found that it’s inconsistent and mostly non-functional. Some non-Steam games launch fine, some show a greyed install button. I’ve posted about this bug in their forum but Valve either (1) don’t care or (2) have silently deprecated this feature.

Diego

Everyone should buy Rebel Galaxy Outlaw!

Already did! At full price! I regret nothing, except not having played it yet.

Hmm, looks like Steam/the publisher is no longer giving us owners of the Dark Souls PTD edition that killer super low price of four bucks anymore on the Remaster.

And the gold edition is $9.99 after coupon, which still includes the season pass.

Does Rimworld ever go on sale? I have it but wanted to pick up a copy for a friend.

It’s supposed to never go. I think it had once a tiny sale before the 1.0 release.

I’d assume it will not go on sale until a sequel or dlc, which probably means never…

It’s got a small discount right now on Fanatical that makes it $32.19 (8%). However, if you’re in the market for anything else, nearly every game on sale for Fanatical’s Winter Sale comes with a 5% off your next purchase coupon. Using that 5% off on Rimworld as your second purchase would bring it down to around $30.50. Its historic low is $29.99 on Steam and Humble, but that was when it came out of Early Access over a year ago.

Not in Europe. Idiots.

On the Epic sale, I’m tempted by:

Tetris Effect $20
Superliminal $6
Ghostbusters Remastered $5
Manifold Garden $8
Observation $12.49 (grrrr)
Sojourn $7
Outward $6.

I don’t know if several of those are actual good games. I just like the look of them from the little information given on the storefront. Like Manifold Garden and Sojourn. Outward has a really bad trailer, but I think it got praised at Qt3 at one point.

One not super obvious thing about the Epic sale is that the $10 coupon can be applied to any game, not just the games on sale - I ended up picking up Outer Wilds with it and I’m thinking about just banking another one to buy a different game sometime next year

Thanks!

I found out last night that at least some DLC cannot have the coupon applied to it. I wanted to purchase the Surviving Mars Season Pass and the coupon would not work. Maybe it would work for individual DLCs (but I didn’t see any I needed at the price point).
