I remember all the talk when they paid the cast a million each per episode for the final season and how much that was at the time. It’s a pittance compared to what they have made off that show since.

It’s crazy that it’s been 25 years.

I think the show still resonates with young adults these days because much of the humor is still relatable (and funny) and it reflects the exact same struggle a lot of people that age still have today. So many 20somethings are out there post-college or post-high school feeling like “they’re always stuck in second gear”, struggling to find their identity as adults, and achieve all the things they feel like they’re supposed to be doing, from having a good job to having a nice place to live to having lasting relationships, getting married, etc… Not much has changed about that since 1994.

Well, apart from the fact that it’s way harder now for all of them that aren’t rich to begin with. In Portland back then you could rent a two bedroom apartment close in and share it with a friend for a reasonable price. Now? Pfft…

You don’t know how many times I’ve gotten a turkey stuck on my head.

That was always one aspect of “Friends” that was completely unrealistic. Even in 1994 there was no way Monica/Rachel and Joey/Chandler could have afforded those large 2 bedroom apartments in NYC given their employment status. I think they alluded once or twice to the one Monica and Rachel lived in as being rent controlled since it was previously occupied by Monica’s grandmother or something, but even that would not have lasted long. In that respect the show is just like today’s shows featuring 20somethings, where the main characters work entry level jobs somewhere and yet somehow live in nice condos in trendy downtown districts or converted industrial spaces with tons of room and amazing views that would easily cost $2500-$3000 a month or more in real life.

I think you may be stuffing it wrong…just saying…

Fanatical has a new Moe Novel Bundle featuring anime visual novels/games. Two tiers, $5.89 for 7 titles, $13.49 to add an additional title and its DLC.

Speaking of anime, Melty Blood Actress Again : Current Code is the Star Deal at $4.85 (80%).

The Skullgirls Complete Bundle makes a return as well. $1.00 to own everything Skullgirls.

GOG has the Witcher, Divine Divinity and Shadowrun franchises on sale for up to 90% off.

Steam Midweek Madness features:

There were also a ton of Weeklong Deals that kicked off yesterday, including:

I nearly clicked that until I spotted the word “anime” and realized this is probably not a Three Stooges game. Unless anime has gotten even weirder. Which I suppose is not outside the realm of possibility.

Dude, you don’t even want to know about Shemptai, trust me…

I would not bother with Dominions 4, since Dominions 5 is, for the most part, a straight upgrade.

My second-favorite fighting game! Highly recommended.

Fair warning on Melty Blood that most people online play the community version based off the older doujin releases. It’s a phenomenal game, if you can get past the entire cast being little girls.

You mean three characters out of the 31-character cast, half of which is grown-ass men?

Freespace 2 is free on GoG for two days.

Hey @BrianRubin is that a good one? ;)

That must be some deep lore if “half” those are “men”. I know that sort of thing is popular in anime, and 2019. I’ll consult the fan wiki. Meanwhile, I’ll revise my original figure to 85% little girls.

I was about to write a faux hate-filled tirade in the GOG thread over your mocking GIF in reference to my mention of Freelancer, then I saw this response in here and LOL’d. Urge to kill…fading.

You’re still wrong about Freelancer though, it’s awesome and it will always be awesome.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I love Freelancer. But it’s not in the same league as Freespace 2.

Seems like Fanatical is having an unannounced Anime Week given that today’s new bundle is Arc System Works 2 Games for $4.99 including:

  • Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R
  • Guilty Gear 2 : Overture
  • Battle Fantasia : Revised Edition
  • Of Mice & Sand Revised
  • Double Dragon IV

This is alongside the Star Deal Dead or School at $8.59 (65%) and the Idea Factory Pick & Mix and MoeNovel Bundle launched earlier this week. Also, the Learn Japanese To Survive Complete Bundle is on sale for $3.99.

Meanwhile, over at Steam, they’re having a Stardock Publisher’s Sale for the weekend.

Want more publisher sales? How about an Asmodee Digital Publisher’s Sale?

Still not enough publisher sale goodness for you? Fine…have some THQ Nordic Publisher’s Sale.

Steam also has a Total War Franchise Sale happening.

Gamesplanet has Ni No Kuni 2 on sale for $17…thinking hard about this one

Hey guys! Everything is free at Epic! Sale of the century!

Oh, wait.

Everything (the game named Everything, not literally lower-case everything) and Metro 2033 Redux are free. So like, who came up with such a confusing name? Bastards.

Embrace the self-loathing running through your veins as you compulsively increment your gamecount! You know you can’t resist!
