Presumably to celebrate launching, AI War 2 is 40% off:

I’m gonna grab it.

That seems like an overly generous release discount, no?

It’s also on GOG and can be GOG Connected.

It is a historical low. Add to that that I, and I’m sure everyone else who owns the original AI War on Steam, found a 25% off coupon in my inventory that brings the price down to $8.99, and you wonder if the discount is intended to bring in some cash fast, or at least attempt to get the game up there in the sales charts. I have always admired the design of the first game and have put almost 20 hours into it…all in the excruciatingly long tutorial. However I am told that the game has been streamlined but not dumbed down, and I am willing to part with $9 because I have admired (and even occasionally enjoyed!) so many Arcen games in the past and hope I will really be able to get into this one.

It’s also on GOG for those who prefer. EDIT: ninja’d

And so I shall pick it up when I get home then. :)

According to this RPS comment, my suspicions are unfortunately correct:

Having put a good 20 hours in over the last few days, the game itself is definitely no flop. Unfortunately this is very much make or break time for the dev.
They’ve guaranteed continued support into next year (including the full multiplayer suite and expanded content) but after that they might be too far into the red to continue. I sincerely hope not!

Interesting new small bundle of platformer and twin-stick shooter games at Fanatical today. The Graffiti Bundle is only $3.99 and features:

  • Double Cross
  • Trident’s Wake
  • The King’s Bird
  • Joggernauts

That’s a great deal at $1 per game, especially since The King’s Bird is well worth the $4 all on it’s own.

Also new on Fanatical today is the Black Hell Bundle. $2.99 for 5 indie games that cross several genres:

  • The Coma : Recut
  • Paranautical Activity : Deluxe Atonement Edition
  • Black Paradox
  • The Joylancer : Legendary Motor Knight
  • Violet Cycle

Fanatical also has the recently released RPG/Roguelike Sin Slayers Bundle for $14.99 (50%). The bundle contains the base game, the Pharmacist DLC, Little Supporter DLC and Soundtrack.

Steam MidWeek Madness features:

Well, if that’s the case, I’ll buy it (again) on GOG, even with Connect. I really like Arcen Games and I’d hate to see it die. :(

I’m confused why you’re posting about bargains here in the display technologies thread?

Humble Idea Factory Bundle is live featuring all the Hyperdimensional MegaFairy Advent Fencer Anime you can handle.

Pay $1 for Steam keys to:

  • Trillion : God of Destruction
  • Neptunia Shooter
  • Moero Chronicle

BTA (currently $5) and receive:

  • MegaTagmension Blanc Deluxe Edition Bundle
  • Fairy Fencer F

Pay $10 and unlock:

  • HyperDevotion Noire : Goddess Black Heart
  • SuperDimension Neptune VS SEGA Hard Girls
  • Fairy Fencer F : Advent Dark Force Complete Deluxe Set

That is a truly excellent cat picture that also happens to perfectly fit how that bundle makes me feel.

I gagged a little just reading that.

And so much more.

Lots of good games there, mostly Fairy Fencer F and SuperDimension Neptune VS SEGA Hard Girls. This is a good bundle in my book.

Not for me though. The only games I don’t already own in the bundle are Moero Chronicle and Neptunia Shooter.

A purrfect opportunity to get us back on track. Thanks for the sample image!

Original angry cat image:

Double sized (quadruple area’d) via different algorithms:

Nearest-Neighbor (i.e. pixel doubling)
angrycat2xNN

Bicubic
angrycat2xBicubic

Lanczos
angrycat2xLanczos

As you can see, “pixel doubling” isn’t always the best method of scaling up lower-res content. Best way to compare these is right click on each of them and open the image in a new tab and then ctrl-tab between them.

Note: Sorry, I just can’t stop joshing you on this. No offense intended.

So what is the best Game Pass intro deal out there right now for people who want access to the PC games like The Outer Worlds but don’t have an XBone?

I mean, I don’t want to see this developer go down in flames for obvious reasons (I have a particular soft spot for him given some seeming similarities behind our respective divorces), but practically speaking, if he did, why would it matter so long as AI War 2 is complete now?

Sure, it would be nice to get additional content, but I do remember days when you could buy a game, it worked as a full and complete game, and it really did not matter if the developer hung around to do shit with it later.

So please, Arcen, stay around, and please, let this be a good game so he makes lots of money.

Bargain Thread Content :At 11.99, you really can’t afford not to buy it!

I think you can still carry over XBOX gold sub days (redeem xbox cards before signing up for ultimate), so load up a few gift cards of that if you want to stick with Gamepass for a few years. I myself am subbed to June 2022.

This might belong in the hey I’m old topic.

I agree though, I remember when you could buy a game, get a few fixes and if you loved it, got some full expansions a year or so later.

Yep, back around 20 years ago you’d always buy the “Gold” edition of a PC game. Then they started calling them “GotY” editions and now they’re all “Definitive” ones.

And thanks, @lordkosc!
