Hey, this game is pretty good.

With the Steam cloud enabled, I’ve carried my B:AC save across hard drives. You should be safe with an uninstall.
Does anyone know if the GOTY version is considered the same game on the Xbox? I’m starting to get disk read errors when I play my copy, but don’t want to replace it if the saves won’t carry over.
Chris, it is not the same game. I needed to start over.

Possibly spoilery side-plot-flavor-enhancing thing that I don’t think is related to the main story in any significant way (I haven’t finished yet) but I just noticed:
Everyone’s Favorite Vilainess
Harley Quinn is pregnant. There’s a pregnancy test (positive!) next to one of her dummies in the boiler room loft.
Question: when playing as Catwoman, they give these little queues when doing the whip-jump. “Too late” “Too early” “Good” “Perfect.” Is there any significance to these other than “you can go a little faster if you do it right?”

It’s for an achievement, nothing else.

Finished!
So what do people recommend in terms of finishing up the remaining Riddler trophies? Should I just continue the main game, or is there any good reason to play New Game +?
The payoff for the Riddler thing is not that great. Just pace yourself with them during New Game+.
The reason to play NG+ is to remove the warning indicators on enemy attacks. It’s more immersive and challenging.

NG+ is for fun. It’s the game you thought you were buying.
After finally seeing The Dark Knight Rises this weekend, I had a little Batman fever and remembered that I’d gotten nowhere near finishing this game. I also recalled that all of the cool skins had been released for the low price of $5 and there was a code that would allow me to use any of them in the campaign without having to finish it first (which is how it should’ve been all along). I decided to give Arkham City another shot, picking up the campaign at the beginning of the Penguin museum level.
I spent a little time reacquainting myself with the controls, but it was a much smoother process than I expected. The game does a great job reminding you of how to do things and in the menus there are great descriptions of all the various moves and approaches to enemies.
Anyway, I had a great time finishing up that level and will definitely keep plugging away at it. By the way, I used The Dark Knight Returns skin mostly, but will probably end up using them all over the course of playing the game. I think I’ll go with Year One next.

I’ve got the PS3 controller working on the Windows box, finally, and started New Game+ mode, and I totally suck. But I can’t tell if I suck because New Game+ is harder, or because I’m not used to the controls with the gamepad yet.

Just give up on the camera for now and try to work the whole thing meta, the hardest transition for me from K&M to controller was losing the ability to look around during a fight quickly.

Starting to get the hang of it, but I still suck. I actually started a second game on normal just so I could get all the tutorial hints again. Then after going through the courthouse, I returned back to New Game + and had better luck.
The main difference seems to be that individual thugs have a lot more health - this means that I’m finding it a lot harder to deal with big crowds because it simply takes longer to wear them all down, and my mistakes add up (and, i’m not yet adept at the multiple-button presses needed for the insta-kill combos, bat swarms, and such)
I’ve cleared the courthouse - can I just, like, completely ignore the plot and do only side missions and riddler trophies? The thought of Batman ignoring mortal peril and instead jumping around like he’s in the Superhero Special Olympics chasing riddler trophies is oddly alluring.

I promise it’s a short curve. Of course you know the bread and butter is the Y for blocking and the whatever for combo takedown. The “jump up and end every down thug” batarang move pretty much breaks the game from there.

The most challenging thing I’m finding on NG+ is distinguishing a blade attack (yellow flash on normal) from a standard attack that can be parried with a single Y. For some reason removing the flashes also messed up my timing on the blade disarm move. I’ve gone from around a 75-80% success rate to 10% at the most.
Maybe I didn’t use it enough to realize how broken it was, but I lean on Disarm and Destroy (X+Y) a lot harder than the “jump up and end every down thug” A+B move.

Oh yeah, I use the disarm move constantly. The best enemy weapon is a broken enemy weapon.
I always forget about those combo moves, which is probably why encounters with more than three or four enemies become tedious slugfests for me.
