Started playing today a while.

Is it odd that I miss a lot BFBC2? Game looks nice but borderline playable on my hardware. BFBC2 was just fine.

And besides I miss a lot the old classes, like having a granade launcher on the assault. BF3 has more gimmicks but it’s not as clean design as BC2. The rest is more or less the same, is just that I don’t see any real better things, and a few of small ones I don’t like as much.

Suddenly I’m having great games with the jets, I don’t know what happened but I like it.

Also, I just remembered shooting people in the face with the tracer dart and watching them run around blind in BC2, that was great.

Assault still gets the grenade launcher. It’s one of the earlier unlocks.

As for close quarters, rocket and 320 spam on those maps is going to be nuts.

That was my #1 tactic when I was on a team with 10 snipers hiding in bushes doing absolutely nothing while our team was tasked with attacking MCOMS.

Keep playing. I felt the same way at first, and I still feel somewhat nostalgic towards BC2, but BF3 is a deeper and more satisfying experience. The only thing I miss from BC2 these days is the performance. I don’t find the extra performance hit worth it in BF3, and the loading times are much worse. Frostbite 2 would have worked just fine for me.

I discovered a pattern, if I play the PSX2 emulator before it then the game starts fine.

Oh so retarded. Essentially if I launch a dx10 game before I launch BF3 then the game works. Who programmed this?

EDIT: other thing I’m missing: at least BFBC2 gave me some stats on the weapons to have an idea on how they differ. BF3 gives me absolutely nothing, just names. And I also could see right in the game what I had to unlock. The UI in BC3 is overall crappiest and unwieldy. Why they have to change stuff that worked so well?

And another question, is the expansion thing worth it? I read it gives more weapons and stuff beside the maps.

Back to Karkand? It’s worth it just for the maps in my opinion. The extra weapons are nice, but I’m pretty terrible so I don’t unlock things very quickly lol.

For what is worth it, I also have a 4800 series video card and I don’t have errors like that.

It does give you stats for weapons I think, on the PS3 you press triangle and it gives you the history, rate of fire etc. You get weapon usage stats in the menu.

Origin’s repair tool is a piece of shit.

I was getting a similar problem to the one above (invalid license, missing DLL) after buying B2K and spent hours trying various fixes. Now I don’t have the fastest connection in the world and redownloading 15GB wasn’t something I wanted to do, so I put my trust into the repair tool. Bad idea.

I ended up having to uninstall and waiting 24hrs to redownload everything and what do you know, it works now! Thanks EA!

Still haven’t gotten around to playing the expansion after that grueling ordeal.

Overall I’m satisfied with the maps, but the new Karkand just isn’t as fun as the original.

I never played Karkand but I love those maps, I have also grown to love using the mortar on Seinne Crossing rush games (fuck your bottle neck tactics defenders!!!).

Agreed! I miss the Oasis, Harvest Day, and Arica Harbor, and I would love to see End of the Line from BC1.

Official trailer for the CQ expansion is out.

I really hope there’s more to the expansion that CQ maps and if not I hope the new maps are more like Seine Crossing and Grand Bazaar, and less like Métro. Métro is an abomination. Seine and Bazaar are great for 32 players and under. Either way, this trailer doesn’t interest me at all.
