So is looks like PS3 player who got the DLC earlier are praising this. Some even say this is the best DLC yet. I’m intrigued.
Yeah, I think I may be looking forward to playing the scavenger mode more than anything yet released. Always love having the random element of having to use whatever gun I happen to find in the battlefield.
I’m guessing scavenger mode is only available for the 4 Aftermath maps?

I’ve been playing Onslaught mode (a DLC for the previous in the series) a lot lately. Any news of any new co-op modes like that? I’ve had some insane firefights against the AI in that mode. Very fun to run through with friends or even strangers.
New maps look good, I can see another 20 hours spent in BF3 in my future.

How it’s possible that 4 maps require a 3.5Gb patch and then another 4 Gb download?
7.5Gb for four maps?
I’m quite sure that the 30Gb that this game takes is completely filled with redundant data that they can’t be arsed to properly patch.
4GB the other day for the patch. The patch included fixed version of the AK maps, which implied downloading AK again.
Today is a 3.9gb patch for the new DLC. Downloading, btw.

Yeah, DICE talked at length about how busted the updating process was for Frostbite and Bad Company 2. Looks like they couldn’t fix them for Battlefield 3 and Frostbite 2.
Of course my internet connection is being flaky when I need to download all these patches.

Yeah, new maps are good stuff. Scavenger is kind of fun too in a mindless CQB sort of way.
I guess that guy wasn’t kidding when he said Telah Market felt like a CQ map. I joined a server with 32 players and died about 20 times in the span of 5 minutes. It was utter fucking chaos.
Really liked the maps, but haven’t played in months. Got killed by a bunch of guys ranked Colonel 100. If you know how insane it is just to level up one colonel rank, that’s a terrifying number to hit Colonel 100. Basically playing nonstop for months and months and months.
Why the hell Origin is sooo slow now, sine the last update. It’s going at 250kb/s!
Initial impressions are quite positive. I played mostly scavenger and I think it’s only played on normal sized maps (someone correct me if I’m wrong), so the ideal player count is 16-24.
I really like scavenger mode. The random weapons are actually divided up into level 1, 2, and 3 (you can see those numbers before you pick them up) with apparently the quality of the guns increasing. You’ll also find sniper rifles in appropriate sniping locations, which is nice. Constant mobility is necessary for survival as the gun you find usually only has a single clip, so you have to make tough decisions in getting that next gun and possibly risking your neck to do so.
I played a round on the large conquest palace map on a 64 player server and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the map is actually large enough to support that many players without it being chaotic. I’m still not sure about the other maps, but the palace map was really fun and gave you lots of room and places for cover. I’m also happy to report that there seems to be a lot more destructible things in the environment now. I had a whole section of the wall blown away by incoming fire, leaving me ducking for more cover. I also saw a tank shelling the 2nd floor of the palace and blasting through walls.
It really looks like this is the expansion to pick up if you don’t have premium.

I can’t play with a gamepad, but this game should be played on a PS3.
- Demands excessive hardware on PC to run decently.
- LOTS more servers for every single mode (at least in Europe is that way).
- Players more spread out in PS3, meaning that you don’t constantly go against clan players and specialists.
I’d hardly call my old core2duo system “excessive” since it runs BF3 extremely smoothly even on 64 player servers and still looks better than the PS3.
Servers seem fine for the US, but finding smaller CQ servers can be a pain (Europe actually has a lot). I’m guessing CQ isn’t as popular and I can only guess people play CQ on 32/64 player servers for the easy XP.
And you can always play on smaller servers on the PC (which I tend to do).
Woo hoo!!! I got a double XBOW kill 2 minutes after picking one up for the first time.

Stupid question. How do I equip the bow? I heard it was in the gadgets slot for all kits but I didn’t find it.
