I tried this today and I didn’t think it was that great. Too much chaos. I’d rather play Team DM, which I actually enjoy in this game.

Maybe I’ll try it again with the FAMAS like mentioned above.

I had the most frustrating night in BF3. Terrible teams on multiple servers. Just spawn and die. But it was all worth it when I saved someone in the act of getting knifed. I think I’ve done that before but it’s been a very long time. What a great moment.

Also, you guys weren’t kidding about the terrible iron sights on the FAMAS. Haha! But it hits like a ton of bricks. I click the mouse and enemies die instantly.

You aren’t alone, the other night I had 3 maybe 4 games of .25 K/D ratio on the new maps. I ranked up but it took forever as I was barely getting 3000 xp a round.

The enemy was using teamwork . :(

That terrible secret weapon! :P

The games where i do it better is when i pay with 3-4 friends in Teamspeak, it enhances the play of everyone.

Surprisingly, I am liking the four maps on Rush! The surprise comes because the original maps are more hit & miss, and because they are remakes of BF2 maps, where Rush didn’t exist.

They are easier for the attackers, the have an interesting map layout, and the phases are well ordered in increasing difficulty.

Wake is definitely easiest for the attackers. On the other maps the opposing team always seems to do well, but my team never makes it anywhere!

Maybe I’ll try some 8v8 Rush servers to see if I can make more of a difference.

Anyone killed a vehicle with the repair tool for the assignment yet? I think I’m going to have to luck into that one.

I believe that enemy equipment counts as vehicles as well. IE Tugs/radio beacons.

The best way IMHO to get the vehicle torch kill is to spawn on a 1 player start map, drive the AAV (mobile spawnpoint) very near an enemy point, then switch teams to engineer, spawn at that point, and torch the AAV.

Because it’s a mobile spawn point, it is kill-able even with nobody in it.

And I had a BITCH of a time trying to get a “regular” torch kill. You have to find the world’s dumbest opponent, I could never do it after 20-30 tries, so I gave up and went with the above.

I’ll try the equipment thing first. I’m a long way away from the AT kills so I’ll keep my eye out.

I was lucky enough to find a prone sniper to get my first torch kill. Just have to resist the urge to knife him!

And I totally wimped out and did the AAV method. I just want it off my todo list.

I think I asked this before, but what graphics settings are people using? I’m trying to figure out if mesh quality (draw distance) affects how far away you can see enemies. If it doesn’t affect it at all, I might lower it for better performance and less background clutter.

Yeah the torch person kill is trivial. Torch vehicle kill is way, WAY harder.

Oh I thought you were talking about the person kill. Yeah of course everyone bails out of vehicles at the first sign of danger.

This game feels like playing Skyrim to me. There’s so much to do – different game modes, classes, vehicles, and weapons. It’s like replaying an RPG with a different class. In both games I have a “todo list” in my head of all the things I want to check out. I’m glad I stopped whoring the tanks because the additional variety is exciting.

And I make fun of the unl0ckz, but it’s strangely satisfying to fill in those green boxes. I love poking around the stats pages. It fits my personality.

To get an assignment done I finally put the mortar to use, now I’m addicted, blowing up an unsuspecting tank from across the map feels fantastic

Meh, they overnerfed the mortar too much, imo. The diminished damage and reduced reload time is excessive, they should have done only one of the two.

It’s a bit weak now.
But it’s still fun on maps where the enemy crowd together or snipers like to camp on top of rocks.

Do they have a maximum range or height they will travel? Houngan and I encountered a bunch of snipers on an inaccessible roof on Gulf of Oman. I’d love to be able to swap over real quick and pop them. At least until I’m good enough with a helicopter.

I know we have sniper apologists on this thread (and that’s perfectly fine) but every time I get killed by one I can’t resist typing something like “sn1p3r” to poke at how cheesy they are. This weekend someone replied with a simple “yup.” That made me feel better because at least some people know the reputation of the class. I can live with that.

SPM of 489
W/L ratio of 1.55

Weee!!!
/does little dance

I’m beginning to question W/L ratio. It’s easy to boost it by riding the winners and dumping the losers. When I join a server and see my team is way down on tickets, I just quit and find another server. There’s no way to come back during that game, and I’ve noticed I’m not always good enough to overcome a bad team in the next game. Sometimes I try it anyway and that’s what kills the ratio.

That’s just my own personal vice so I can’t accuse anyone else of doing it. I rationalize it by assuming that if someone dropped in the middle of a game to open up a slot on a busy server, he probably figured the situation was hopeless. Those games suck.

If it’s even when I join and we still lose, I’ll stick it out for the loss and then yell at my team. ahem

But then your “quit %” will raise :P
