I just started and yes there have been a few moments of “wtf how the did he know???” but I’m on PS3 so I assume there isn’t much hacking, if any.
Yeah at this point in the metagame you should probably stay out of sensor range if you’re shooting RPGs. I think it’s maybe 20 meters. And don’t pop out of cover if he’s looking directly at you.
Yes, I have done it, just focus on attacking a tank from the side. They’re the least maneuverable and least able to kill you, assuming the passengers don’t hop out. It took me a few tries, but was easier than trying to kill a person with the repair tool :)
That’s already a 30% over the average (1.00), don’t be so stingy! :P
Me. It wasn’t that hard, I needed 5 or 6 tries to do it.

Interesting. How exactly did it go down?
Standard practice for me is to immediately jam on the turbo and zoom backwards when I take damage. This seems to be what most other people do too, which makes it nigh impossible to get them with the repair tool. They either run you over, hop out and shoot you or leave you totally exposed when they reverse.
I’ll probably grab a buddy and do it the cheesy way, if you’ll pardon the expression.

It is very hard. You can only get a vehicle destroy with the repair tool if you are playing against an EXTREMELY stupid pants-on-head opponent.
Or get really, really lucky, I guess – like if the vehicle has very low health and you happen to get there right in the nick of time.
Well, it’s a question of luck. You need to go for a very damaged vehicle, one it’s only with 6% or 7% of health. And again, it’s just a chance that the driver will be so busy with the combat situation that he doesn’t notice it and will die inside the vehicle.
So just luck: you need an enemy vehicles which has received enough hits to be very low on health but not enough to blow up before you reach it, with enough combat around so the (also not very good) driver is distracted but not so much combat that you die when you are trying to get close to the vehicle. In the end, the problem I had was the vehicle blowing up when I was hitting it with the repair tool, but not by me but from a friendly rpg or a friendly tank. I wanted to scream “Stop firing at the enemy for a moment please, I’m trying to get an assignment here!” :P

Well, I finally did that part of the assignment. Took down a mortar and it was destroyed within 3-4 seconds of using the torch. A bit difficult since mortars are usually position way behind enemy lines in the spawn death zone so you have to get a bit lucky. Hope they’re near the border of it so you can rush in and take it out and return back to battlefield quickly before you die.
You must have a flawless K/D if you’re worried about one death to finish the hardest assignment task!

One death? I have had like 1000 deaths trying to do this stupid assignment. Seriously, not that many but a lot. I would see an enemy tank or vehicle and make it my mission to go after it only to die soon afterwards.
My K/D ratio is pretty terrible overall since I am usually too focus on objectives, M-Coms, Flags, etc that I’ll take a death or two or five if I can destroy the M-Com or take the base. I am usually in the top 3 or so on my team based on points, but not kills/deaths.
For the record, my K/D ratio is around .53, it was much lower if you can believe that when I was playing mostly Rush and learning the maps. Now I average 1:1 or close to it.
I was just teasing about your “hope you can return back to the battlefield quickly before you die.” Obviously that’s the least of your concerns!
I just won my first round of Metro Rush as attacker, thanks to a 12v12 server.
I didn’t even know where to go on the final section, haha.
Seine Crossing: WHERE IS THE FUCKING MCOM ON THE BOAT STOP SHOOTING ME GOD DAMN GOD DAMN.
Still lots of fun though!
GOD DAMN.
Seine Crossing sucks. Here’s a list of good maps:
All the Back to Karkand maps are very good in my opinion, for all modes – Conquest, Rush, and Team DM. Except I don’t like Wake Island Conquest as much due to the layout. I prefer to zip around.
Of course play whatever you want. Just an FYI.
Ta for the list, I’m such a mediocre/poor player I can’t really get away with blaming the maps.
I’ve found so far my favourite areas of any map are mazey-type places such as the Noshar Canals. I like the close quarters, peek-a-boo moments and I like how effective shooting from the hip is here compared with BC2. I am terrible at spotting unmarked enemies from afar unless I’m sitting right by the TV.
I’m yet to get a sense of most of the maps though, Caspian Border is especially daunting, I haven’t even SEEN a jet that’s not already in-flight.
Oh if you’re playing on console that list might not apply. The map dynamics might change for 12v12. Either way, grab a vehicle and start capturing points on Caspian as fast as you can!
I learned the other day that for the vehicle repair tool kill, enemy equipment will also unlock the weapon. Next time you see a spawn beacon, use that repair tool! Mortars, eod bots, mav, and motion sensors all count supposedly, but I can confirm spawn beacons personally.
Also how’s the shotgun round for the tanks? I’m excited to unlock it, it looks bad ass.
In cool factor, or effectiveness? Or are you being sarcastic?
Oh and Tim, I think Seine Crossing is great (in CQ at least), why do you think it sucks?
