Yes they do actually. I got a kill on a guy in Gulf of Oman the other day.
Here’s a defib kill montage.

Weird. I tried to defib kill a couple of snipers to no avail. They were prone and I tried it 4 or 5 times on each of them but nothing happened. So I just shot them instead. I’ll give it a try again next time I play.

Anyone have any idea how to fix a constant “Stuck in loading” screen on map change? Didn’t have the issue before they did the Karkand patch, and now the game is almost unplayable to me since I have to alt-f4 basically every time a server changes map.
Tried a few solutions (Disabling Aero, making sure to run it specifically as administrator, manually updating Punkbuster, having Origin scan the BF3 install to make sure it’s not broken) and haven’t found a fix yet.
I fully understand the jet metagame now thanks to everyone’s advice. I’ve successfully run from missile locks and I now target jets immediately and try to sneak up on them. I unlocked air radar and I’m getting used to how that works. Sometimes it gets finicky or the icons jump around. Not sure why.
Anyway, now it’s just a matter of getting better through practice. I should have no problem maxing out the jet perks eventually.

Yeah. Its a bit hit and miss (pardon the pun). More often than not, I’ll switch to the M26 MASS and blast them at point blank out of frustration. That is if they don’t turn around at the beeping noise of the recharging paddles and shoot me first.
The vid seems to indicate that you need to hold the key/trigger for it to work but I haven’t tried it often enough to know for sure.
I wasn’t a fan of the Medic class in BF2 but I used to score a lot of Defib kills in BF2142 as Assault, so its disappointing that its so unreliable in BF3.
The hit detection zone for the defibs is much smaller than in BC2. Forget using them in enemies, I’m talking when you use it in friendlies to revive them!
I suppose the same problem happens when you try to use it in enemies.

True.
Sometimes I can revive 3 guys in a row in a quick burst on the run from cover to a doorway on Op Metro. Other times I completely fail to revive a guy I’m virtually teabagging behind cover, all 5 or 6 attempts failing before it becomes invalid (presumably respawning).

I don’t see it as disappointing at all - it’s completely pointless. You don’t run out of knives.
I get this occasionally. Last night I also got a bunch of lockups when I popped into a US jet on Kharg Island. Very strange.
By far the biggest frustration is when you try to join a game quickly after quitting the last one. Battlelog always comes back and says I’ve been disconnected from EA Online or whatever. It’s like it can’t process my disconnect/quit fast enough. You have to give it 20-30 seconds.
That’d be okay except I normally launch a game and then tab over to browse the internet while it loads. I don’t notice the connection issue until later. There’s a similar issue where sometimes the game doesn’t pop up after it loads. After a minute I go to investigate, and realize the game is up and waiting for me when I click on it.

Pointless? Because it doesn’t have the dog tag mini-game that knives do?
Its unique to the Assault class, requires a little more timing than the I-Win button of a knife from behind, and I get a laugh out of it.
The point is that its fun.
Once you get killed by it, the value becomes clearer.
I’ll have to try it sometime in Rush.
By the way, I’m in love with the shotgun on Rush attack. Smoke gets me to the MCOM, and the shotgun keeps anyone from disarming it. Previously I’d lose a lot of 1v1 fights when the other team came to disarm, even with the overpowered FAMAS. Now I just hide in a corner and cover the doors. Surprisingly few people frag the MCOM room.
I see other attackers leave the room and try to prevent the disarm from unexpected angles. But I feel like I get picked off or sniped from unrelated enemies that way. Even if it’s better odds, it pisses me off too much to try. The shotgun lets me get away with my preferred technique.
If anyone’s curious, I’m using the USAS-12 with extended mag. BC2 style!
I maxed out the attack helicopter thanks to a little grinding on a sparse server.
Someone explain guided rockets to me. That’s the helicopter pilot upgrade that replaces stealth/autoloader/etc. and upgrades the normal unguided rockets. Does it help your rockets curve toward the target even without a laser designation? Someone implied it needed the SOFLAM, but YouTube videos show that’s not the case. Anyway, how exactly does it work? Do I need to keep my crosshair on the target for it to auto-aim slightly for me?
On the gunner side, does anyone use the TV missile or do you stick with guided missiles? I didn’t even realize guided missile was supposed to be used for land targets. Duh.
Also on the gunner side, do people usually take flares or thermal optics? I suppose it depends on how badly you need it, depending on the air/anti-air presence on the server.
Speaking of which, I hate it when I’m on a server specifically for jet/helicopter dueling and some little bitch keeps attacking me with the mobile AA. I’ve had a lot of rage lately because of stuff that. Makes me feel like I’m 16 again playing QWCTF. Haha.

No, pointless because you already have an effective melee attack :)

Guided missiles require either your crosshair guiding them or a SOFLAM designation to fire-and-forget, as I understand it. Considering I never, ever see anyone using SOFLAM except myself I can’t prove this.
H.
You’re talking about the gunner guided missiles? I thought they were lock-on and fire-and-forget, like heli/jet guided missiles. Actually I may be wrong about the fire-and-forget part. I swear I changed back over to the gun and my missile missed the target.
I still have no idea how guided rockets work. I’ll experiment tonight. Just thought I’d ask in case someone knew.

Ah, yes, well I used feel like a real dumbass for getting offensively Defib’ed so I liked to share that feeling around. ;)

You’re right, I’m thinking of IFV missiles, the ATGM. Those are wire-guided.
Yes, completely different platform. :) I’m curious about one or two of the IFV perks though. One of the later ones sounds laser-designated but I’m not sure.
