1. It’s 9:00 AM (CET +1) which isn’t considered early at all here.
  2. They should have updated the software BEFORE the release date.

Thank God I have dual monitors!

I was being sarcastic, it was about 2AM in the US, which is why they did it then. I share your rage at the US-centric maintenance scheduling.

Hey, it gives you time to renover your badrum.

H.

*this post has been brought to you by the two words of Swedish Houngan knows from his Swedish facebook friends. “Renovering.” tee-hee.

I played briefly for the first time last night.

I am very worried, because I may have had my first old age gamer moment. I was sitting there, more or less mentally going, “Wait, what’s going . . . these guys are moving too fast . . . wait, how did I just die, I was tucked in a corner and no one could see . . . how is that guy running out in the open and not getting shot when if I pop my head out for a split second I get instantly pegged . . . how . . . I don’t even.”

It’s not good. I’ve never been a good FPS player, but this was really bad. I’m hoping it is just from being out of practice (haven’t played an FPS in at least six months, probably longer).

Give rush a shot for a more focused, uni-directional game. To ease yourself in.

I’m right there with you. I think it’s due to the environment being so busy, you have to give your brain a chance to get used to it.

So I bent my morals quite considerably and purchased the limited edition for the PC, only because I know a fair number of people who are also playing it.

I really hope it’s worth it - the beta videos by TotalBiscuit (in 1080p, which is nice) certainly impressed me enough to buy the game.

I’m not that good, but I’m having fun with BF3.

Here are my tips from 2 days of playing:

  1. If you are lost follow others. This has multiple benefits of strength in numbers and the guy in front usually gets shot first! If that happens see #2

  2. Hot key prone (z on PC). I have crouch mapped to middle mouse. Use it ALL THE TIME. Bullets flying, go prone. Last night, I went prone and had a squad of THREE soldiers literally run over me. I shot all three in the back. I couldn’t believe it.

  3. Look for blue skulls. Those are your dead teammates. If you see more than one dead skull, that means either the enemy is good, there is more than one or they are dug in good. Regardless, don’t run over to where the skull is otherwise you will turn into one.

  4. Use spot. Mash Q on the PC even if you can’t see the guy clearly. It will put an orange marker over your target making them easier to kill and give you spotting points.

  5. Use mounted vehicle guns as a mobile machine gun. F1-F4(?) switches position. Drive the vehicle to where you want it and jump into the gun. Some vehicle weapons have a rt-mouse zoom.

Those are my newbie tips, feel free to add others.

I have a curious bug, i have some kind of inverse LoD. I lose detail when i get close to some surfaces. It’s actually a bug of the graphic driver, it makes invisible some decal textures when i am close to them, like posters on a wall or blood on the ground.

I’m on vacation, so won’t get to this game until Sunday. :(

OTOH, I’m champing at the bit to get a few rounds in…on the other, it probably won’t hurt to wait a week for EA to get their servers beefed up.

I’m in the Qt3 platoon regardless, so woo. Too damn bad there’s no server client. I wonder how much they go for? Back when BF2 hit, Kevin Baird hosted a BF2 server for Qt3 for a while, and it was the bees knees. I’d chip in a few bucks to host if there was enough interest.

How do you spot on the 360? I kept trying to do it the Gears of War 3 way and that wasn’t really working :)

-VegasRobb on Battlelog (i think)

I haven’t seen one revive yet. Come on assaults.

Well, it’s not like there is a lot of time between getting downed and respawning.

Actually, much the same issue with the first aid kit. I haven’t seen anyone really use it. I’ve seen plenty thrown out, but no one uses them.

I’ve been revived a number of times, but only once to any good effect. Usually I just get revived long enough to look around and almost get my bearings before being killed in the same firefight I got shot in the first time. Guys: stop reviving people who are in a cloud of bullets. It doesn’t do anybody any good.

Is there any point to revives now? From what I gathered about beta feedback, people spawned so fast it was hard to get to them.

Like those two said.

Tickets! I’ve been effectively revived several times.

Yeah, if you want to win the match, get the revives going. of course, if the game plays as a Deathmatch then it doesnt matter at all.

Me too, and I have done some reviving, it is useful. I think if they lengthend the window in which you could revive someone teams would no longer lose tickets due to deaths ;)

Now im starting to install the game and see whats inside it hope the campain is good . If the FPS is good i will try to make some gameplay footage.
