It was probably the person he gave the code to during the chat that redeemed it to get back at him for being an arrogant ass during the chat.

Anyone playing this on a slightly older computer?

I’ve been waivering back and forth on picking this up for a few days and my main sticking point is being unsure of how my computer, particularly my CPU will handle the game. Here are my specs:

Core2Duo E6400 (I think, pretty sure it was one of the 2.4Ghz models)
3GB ram
Geforce 260 something (The one with 216 processing units, I believe)
Windows 7 32

Now, generally, my computer handles games great. I play a lot of Starcraft 2, and while the game can slow down in huge battles, generally it does fine. In terms of First person shooters, I can play most games with the graphics cranked up pretty high, Crysis 2 looked great. My main concern comes from hearing about the high demand B3 places on the CPU. I really want to pick the game up, but I really, really don’t want to regret the purchase.

I have a Core2Duo 8400 @ 4GHZ and a 4870 (a bit faster) and I have to play with pretty much everything on low except textures to stay above 30fps. You’ll be alright in SP, but MP puts a serious strain on the CPU and is actually what’s holding me back from getting a higher frame rate. So, I’d say it’d be even worse for your PC.

I have a 285 / E8400 / 4GB and it runs fairly well with settings on high, that’s on 1680x1050. That said I’m not very sensitive to FPS so anything over 20-25 feels playable to me, and anything over 35 smooth.

That being said I do intend to upgrade, though I think I might wait for the new GPUs to come out (probably a few months away?) seeing as BF3 runs okay at the moment.

Been playing this for two nights now on the 360. And, well, it’s not very fun, is it?
There is quite a bit of lag so people are jumping around all the time which is annoying but for me the whole thing just feels clunky for lack of a better word. It takes a loooong time to start up, I am luck if i can get on a server in the first 5-6 tries and the gun play is not very good. I can unload a whole magazine into someone without killing them and someone pops up and gets me in 2-3 shots.

I know this is how DICE does their games but it just feels under cooked. The maps are fantastic, with lots of options which makes the poor gun play even worse. I am not the world’s biggest fan of DICE so take this with a grain of salt but my feelings is that I’m not going to be playing this for long.

The QTE melee fights are pissing me off.

I encountered a sentry and my buddy tells me to take out the guy with my knife (I automatically take out a knife and can’t switch to my silenced rifle). I silently crouch towards the sentry and when I’m about three feet away I suddenly die. This happens two more times before I notice that I’m suppose to swing my knife about ten feet away to trigger the QTE.

Based on your post and my personal experience, I’m gonna have to disagree. The only issues that I can directly lay at dice’s feet at the moment is the server matching. I’m not seeing the warping or jumping about at all, and a simple three round burst or two is enough to take someone out. May I suggest that you might have a regional Internet issue, if not an problem with your isp directly that may be causing lag?

Are you playing on hardcore? I’m assuming that’s an option for 360, never had one myself. I can’t really handle anything else, same deal with BC2, I find hardcore goes a long way towards mitigating this issue.

You still get annoying instances where you shoot someone first but they somehow kill you, but waaaaaay less than on normal where people are bullet sponges.

Well, I would like to play hardcore, I always play Hardcore in COD, but I can’t find any servers. And the lag is really quite noticeable, especially when i play as recon as I can see people just jumping out of my gun sights. Which is a bit annoying when you play as a sniper as you can imagine.

Personally, I blame the netcode. I have played almost every major FPS on the 360, and the DICE games just seem to have the worst multiplayer of the major franchises and at least form me it’s down to the fact that I can’t put people down even when i feel that I have the drop on them.

Yeah, the console version apparently blows.

Console works just fine for non-elitest snobs

I feel bad for those having problems because aside from a few minor issues here and there I’m having an absolute blast

console is great motherfuckers

This whole entire game experience sucks ass.

If I wasn’t so f’n lazy I would return the game.

so apparently you can join a 1 on 1 match with a friend and “cheat” by gaining easy XP… game design flaw?

Thanks for the advice. Sadly it looks like I’ll be holding off on this one until I upgrade next year.

Two servers with aimbots tonight. This is looking promising for the game.

While an issue… worse was falling through the map on Metro again.

So how’s Origin? I did really enjoy BF:1942 and BF2, and I’m sorely tempted by this release. If it were on Steam I’m sure it’d have been a Day One purchase, but I distrust EA.

Instead, you will post on a message board about it…that’ll show 'em! It’s totally worth your $60.
