Ill do the same- we were afraid of new people- and so we rolled dice to figure out what to do.
We should play more Battlefield obviously. And probably make channels for a few big games.

Well, if and when Anti-bunny sees this, accounts for JPR (or “roberdjp”) and “geddysnake” (lurker) would be appreciated.
So who’s planning on getting Vietnam?
Me! But for the 360 (especially as my PC has decided to shit the bed and stop posting).

I’m in on the 360 too. Username Durgiel, which I should really change to something more easily pronounced.

Hmm, I pre-ordered this on Steam but I don’t know how to play? It says the game unlocks on the 18th, today is the 18th…
if I fire up bf:bc2 there is a vietnam button but it’s prompting me for a code? where’s mah code!!
Either when you start the game you’ll get the little pop up window that contains the keys OR within the steam Library you can right click on BF:BC2 in your game list and select View game CD Key to get the list of codes for BF:BC2 (including Vietnam).
If you’re in-game, there’s also a clickable “game key” text on the upper right corner of the steam overlay.
I love the new character and weapon models. I’m not sure the amount of rust on the weapons is realistic but it makes them look awesome.
Had a quick blast last night, the flamethrower is pretty weak unless you are in a tank in which case it can be a lifesaver against those pesky engineers.
It’s nice to be back in this game.

It’s available now? Why does Direct2Drive tell me December 21? Why oh why do they do this to us?

Ah, cool. But subtle… I expected more of a notification. I guess.

Vietnam is great, but DAMN these maps are unbalanced and kind of… not-fun.
I can’t quantify exactly why, but there are a lot of routs and lopsided battles all over the place.

I think a lot of it (for me personally at least) has to do with the modified color palate making it very difficult to see enemies at a distance…though they seem to have no problem instantly spotting me >:-(
The ambient in the new Vietnam maps is excellent, the patrol boat, the Huey and the flamethrower are a blast, but… i dunno, i am not liking it the gameplay as much. Yeah, i know the gameplay is the same, but there are less vehicles, on average, i don’t like some parts of the new maps, the color tone is different and makes it a bit harder to recognize the enemy, there is less enviroment destruction and less hard cover, and i don’t have my autoshotties, recon sensor, nor CG or AT4, so i am a sad panda now.
I actually really like that people are very hard to spot. The weapons also seem to be more lethal, which I think is great. The maps do have an entirely different pace. Makes for a much deadlier and more ruthless game, and gives it a different vibe than vanilla BC2. You might like that or not, but I’ve been really enjoying it. Spotting enemies is even more important now. SPAM Q, PEOPLE!
Also, and I’m not sure about this, be careful not to silhouette yourself against the sky if you’re hiding. You’re much harder to spot if you’re against the wall.
I also kinda like that there are no tracking missiles and sensors and all. In vanilla BC2 it was very common for me to get into a tank and a few seconds later I’d have a tracking dart planted and 3 incoming missiles.

My impressions of BC2 vietnam.
Colours: Theres a filter that make everything look brown. I hate it. As a result, It make me hate the game.
Gameplay: The same thing, but the maps feels small and busy. I don’t like the infantry focus and this seems more focused on infantry. Also, feels more random.
Meta: As soon connected to a server, I was playing with people of level 50. HEe… seems the game continue with the unlocks and levels from the main game. So… he… you can say theres nothing here to unlock of progress for. The game is released “as is”, you take, or forget it.
I was expecting more. I think I am going to lower my expectations even more for future games.
Yeah, one of the reasons i don’t like it as much is the increased lethality. Which, by the way, i don’t think weapons are more lethal, it’s just a combination of the design of the maps and the cover. I like to have the chance to hide or run to cover when i am being shot, and change my tactics on the fly, instead of “oh shit someone is firing at me… oh, dead”.
As Teiman says, deths also feel a bit more random.
edit: i find interesting the fact people dislike or like it more than BC2, as in theory it’s basically a Vietnam themed map+weapons pack. It shows how a few little tweaks here and there can change a game.
