Is there anyone on Qt3 playing this online on PC? I just got this for Christmas (thanks mx!) and it seems fun in single player. Game crashed when I tried to play multi earlier and I haven’t tried again yet.
I’m currently only getting about 30-40 FPS at medium 1024/768. My machine is a little older, C2D E6600 (I think) 4GB Ram, Radeon 4850 512mb.
I also bought it and have been playing it a lot, but mostly on servers around here since i get a lot of lag otherwise.
we are teh playing it- pretty much the same group that does LoL does BFBC. but people always want to play LoL more
Well I haven’t seen you guys play in like forever, and I’d also love a game or two. Although I haven’t fired it up in my spare time like blue has.

I bought during the steam sale and played a little multiplayer for a day or two, only I kept getting booted from servers by punkbuster. I’m not running any cheats so I don’t know what the issue was and haven’t tried again recently.
I’ve got a 4850, too, but the game is pretty CPU limited thanks to all the destructibility in the engine. A dual core CPU is gonna hold you back. It’s plays pretty well at 1680x1050 on my system with a Phenom II X4.

Have you checked your services? Is the Punkbuster services on?
Usually when you have problems with PB, the best is to visit the official page and update PB for your game from there.
I have been having some problems lately. The game just CTDs without giving any errors of any kind and just closes, could it be a punkbuster problem?

Try turning off the steam overlay. I thought I saw something about that causing punkbuster to give a false positive in this game.

I ran BC2 on an E6600 for a good while before upgrading to an E8500, but my video card is a GTX260 (core 216) 768MB. I didn’t have any problems on medium settings at 16801050, performance is generally somewhere around 45-60fps. So unless your video card is holding you back, I don’t know why you’d be getting only 30-40fps at 1024768 on medium settings.
Well, both your gpu and cpu are a bit limited, but in particular your cpu is the one limiting the framerate the most. Try to overclock (i have my E6850 3.0Ghz at 3.6Ghz with a Noctua heatsink), or if you can’t, upgrade it.

I just got it from the Steam sale and had the same punkbuster problem. I updated PB manually and that worked fine.
Very fun game once I started getting some kills.

I’m getting the CTDs without error message even when playing the single-player campaign. I’ll try turning off the Steam Community deal in-game and I already checked the integrity of the game cache (it said that one file was wonky and re-downloaded it).
I’ll also try the Punkbuster updating thing. How does one do that again?

This game is very GPU dependent; I literally doubled my framerate when I went from a GTX 280 to an ATI HD 5870

BC2 can be bottlenecked a number of ways. If you have a slower dual-core, it can get pretty slow due to all the physics destruction going on, and such. If you have a fast CPU, then the more advanced shader effects can bring a decent GPU to a crawl.
My m11x has a relatively slow CPU (low-voltage Core i5 1.066/1.866GHz), and can only handle the game at medium details despite a pretty decent GPU that can easily max out a game like Mass Effect 2.
On the other hand, I previously had a Q9550 and a 4870 - the Q9550 quad core handled Bad Company 2 fine, but the 4870 choked at the more advanced effects like HBAO.
Now I have the Q9550 and a 6850, and while the 6850 is normally only 30-40% faster, in Bad Company 2, I get more than double the frame rate at 1920x1200 maxed out with HBAO on - it’s now a perfect 60fps almost all the time.
Battle of Hastings is already unlocked in pc. It’s good in Rush (well, at least, different, it’s heavier in vehicles), but utter crap in Conquest.

Stupid question, but how do I change positions in a vehicle. If I want to change from driver to gunner?
