Also, I tend to find I have an easier time landing those quick-draw shots with the Rex. The 1911 tends to need that extra shot, and that extra shot usually misses for me.

Yes… just out of curiosity, do you play PC or Console? I can’t speak for the 360/PS3 versions, but the M60 on the PC is a 100-round magazine sniper rifle capable of going full auto :)
Also, the medic may have the fewest kills (by a small margin) of the classes, but the M60 has the most kills of any weapon by a pretty wide margin.

Even though I’m now at the point where I’ve unlocked 2-3 weapons past the M60, I find myself going back to it because it does the most damage. I barely get enough kills compared to my deaths but it’s been the one that I have the most luck with.
So why aren’t medics dominating? (PC)

M60 medics are dominating, at least on all the servers I play on (PC, Rush gametype, and I try to shoot for 20-24 players).
Anecdotally it’s extremely clear the weapon dominates and the stats confirm.
Also I should point out that this isn’t some kind of grass-is-greener whine, I’ve had all the weapons unlocked for some time. And using the M60 is… ridiculous. I do “quite well” with the other LMGs, but the M60 just takes the killing to 11.
-Tap fire for near-sniper lethality at long range
-Burst fire for top lethality at mid range
-full-auto strafe for close-combat lethality. The magazine size combined with impressive stopping power, especially with magnum rounds, makes this a very good close quarters weapon.
EDIT: I should also mention that the medic kit as a whole can tend to suffer a bit in the K/D ratio figures because of the fact that they are oftentimes focused on other tasks, like reviving fallen players, which puts them directly in the line of fire.
Over 7 percent of all the kills in the game are made by an M60. Head and shoulders above any other weapon in the game. So, I guess medics who happen to use the M60 are dominating.
Medic 0.94
Assault 0.98
Engineer 1.01
Recon 1.07
These Kill/Death stats?
Or these % of kills stats:
Recon 22%
Medic 22%
Engineer 23%
Assault 33%
They seem to spend a lot of time dying, for dominators.
But as others have said, that just suggests that the other medic weapons are poor. If the M60 were useful, the medics would be killing people, and they’re not. Or at least not without dying more than all the other classes…
There’s also a bit of self full-fulling nature to these stats as well. Everyone “knows” the m60 and gustaf are “overpowered” so that ends up being the popular options. While it’s pretty clear that the m60 is the best medic weapon, I’ve probably been killed by a Gol more often an m60.

I’m not sure where you’re reaching that conclusion, Alistair. The M60 by far has the highest percentage of kills of any weapon in the game. Not of the medic kit, of any weapon.
Because the other classes have a range of viable weapons. The medics only have one. They’re not quite as deadly as the other classes with their one good weapon, but they struggle on…

The medic class has many other viable weapons. The Type88 I actually do extremely well with, with its 200 round mag, and it’s considered one of the worst. The XM8 LMG and the MG36 are also both very good weapons.
So why are they all using the M60?
Yeah, I’ve gotten plenty of kills with pretty much every medic gun I’ve unlocked so far. Anecdotal, but hey.
EDIT: Well Alistar, I think you know our answer to that, which is the M60 is overpowered compared to other viable weapons.

I don’t mean this in a rude way, but are you just fucking with me at this point? :P Because if so, I will admit that you got me.
They use the M60 because it’s a 100-round deathmachine very lethal in every infantry combat scenario.
I think I’d better leave this. I’m suggesting that the the fact the overpowered medic has the lowest kill/death ratio of any class suggests it is not overpowered. I don’t know why this is so controversial, but I don’t have any more to say.
I am facepalming right now at the netcode
I am a big fan of the Saiga but didn’t liked the pump shotgun because i felt they hit less times, a problem with lag. Well, yes.
There is no logical correlation. Many other factors could effect k/d ratios, notably how medics don’t hide at a distance but move in the midst of the action.

For those who didn’t know, I play on the 360 although haven’t been playing lately. I’m pretty sure we all understand that there are major differences in the two versions with regards to weapon damage and mouse vs sticks. Rag on my accuracy on the console if you like but realize I have more knife kills than any other weapon and maybe two of those were frontal stabs. :)
Most of the medic LMGs are quite good actually, or at least they are quirky enough to have at least one that suits any taste. It’s just when you factor in how rarely you go full auto with anything (which is almost always a bad idea with any gun in this game) the fact that the M60 is deadly accurate and that you only need a few hits to kill anyone with it with magnum that if you aren’t using it as a medic you’re intentionally handicapping yourself. I’m fine with that though because it may be deadly as fuck but it’s still the least fun gun in the game to me. Maybe that’s another reason I prefer the Rex as my sidearm.
The VSS isn’t used as much because I’d bet not that many know that it’s a full auto sniper rifle (which isn’t that great but hey, you never know) and it can eat through ammo and at least on console if you are wearing a ghillie you usually have to run down people to get them to throw an ammo box to you.
