No, but I get utterly bizarre graphical artifacts unless I turn the settings way the hell down.

That’s what I get for using a laptop, I suppose, but it can handle everything else I throw at it–and it’s not a question of performance, just artifacts that make me afraid my GPU is going to die or something. I dunno, maybe it’s connected to DX11, maybe my drivers are crap, but, well, see the bit about being on a laptop.

Used to be all the time, but now it seems like once every 3 or so hours: but I have a Nvidia card, so i can load back in within a minute. But it does get annoying after a while

The beta ATI drivers definitely fix the insane load time problem with ATI cards…

Oh crud. You’re such a killjoy to me today checkers. I appreciate it though. I just figured since a heavy MG shredded a helicopter up pretty fast, that a LMG must do at least some damage to it if I emptied 200-400 bullets into it. I guess not.

Unless they changed something, medic LMGs can damage helicopters if the range is close enough. The heli has to be fairly low to the ground, though… you can tell because you’ll start to get damage ‘pings’ in your reticle.

The last couple of days I have, but never had one before. Not sure exactly what is causing them as there have been a couple changes in the situation that have coincided with the crashes - I installed the 10.4 preview ATI driver, began using Mumble and started playing on servers with greater than 16 ping. My bet is on the driver.

LMG’s were one of the best ways to take down heli’s in BC1, I’d be surprised if they were 100% ineffective in BC2. I don’t play medic a lot though so I haven’t tried it in the new one.

Yay! Non-checkers to the rescue! I did notice the “pings” in my reticle, but only sometimes. It probably did correspond to when the helicopter was close. So I CAN spend all my ammo trying to shoot down helicopters! Sweeeet!

I don’t have much experience one way or the other, but maybe you’re just not accounting for the bullet-drop effect.

Light helicopter like the blackhawk, an lmg can take it down with half a magazine from a good position. even heavy armor copters can take damage from lmg, maybe 4x more damage needed to take it down on average from light armored copters seems.

oh yeah, the m60 + magnum… the last couple weeks been seeing it WAY TOO MUCH! and i don’t even have my m60 yet!

It does almost nothing, damage-wise. Talking maybe 1 point of damage per four or five bullet hits. Medics are not anti-vehicle troops. Leave it to the engineers. If you want to carry a tracer pistol around and mark targets that way, that’s far more useful to the team.

But it LOOKS really cool when there are 4-5 LMG’s spewing tracers at a chopper.

LMGs can kill chopper occupants. Pilots included, it seems.

Is that why I sometimes see a guy fall out of a chopper and hit the ground without deploying a chute?

Anything can do that. I totally shot some dude through the side window with my SMG as he tried to take off.

No, that’s because I didn’t hit the stupid button fast enough.

It’s you hitting passengers through the glass or side windows.

Even if he could damage the chopper that way until he killed the engineer sitting in the back ghost riding the drill he’d be wasting his time.

I’m still trying to snipe a chopper pilot. Tough with analog sticks.

The other day I was sniping out the window of the lighthouse at the enemy spawn, you have a perfect view of the chopper that spawns there. A head on view.

I aimed where the pilots head should be and as soon as the rotors turned I shot. Blam head shot. Reload. Rotor turns. Blam Headshot. Reload. Rotors turn. Blam headshot. Reload. Rotors turn. Blam Headshot. (I didn’t have to move the sticks at all, after reloading the gun stayed on the perfect spot) I was laughing like a hyena and wondering how long before their whole team run to the lighthouse and righteously stab me. Reload. Rotors turn Blam Heashot followed immediately by being stabbed.

I’ve sniped gunners out of the air, but haven’t been able to snipe the pilot (while in the air) yet.
