Actually they changed the shotguns much more. Wops!

Buckshot:
Damage increased to 12.5 - 6.0, Range changed to 8 - 18m
Slug Pump Action:
Range changed to 10 - 36m
Slug Automatic:
Range changed to 8 - 64m
USAS:
Long Damage decreased to 28
Underbarrel Shotgun:
Damage decreased to 14.3, damage drops to 8.0, Range of 8 - 18m

It will be easier to understand with this

Pre-patch

Post-patch

I didn’t have much time with the game yesterday, played only a couple of rounds but a few things struck me as strange about the patch.

Whatever they did to CG doesn’t seem to be effective at all. It was still 1 shot=1 kill every time I used it, very easy and I never use the explosives perk.

Strange to see a nerf to PP2000, it was a good SMG but not super powerful. I didn’t have much time with it though so the effect remains to be seen.

I couldn’t kill anyone with M60 lol. I am not sure if it was due to the nerf or my palms just got sweaty fearing the worst. :) It seems M60 has as much accuracy over distance as shotgun without slugs. I didn’t have much time with it though - I stopped using M60 long time ago (it was becoming to feel as “I win” button), so I was much more interested in other medic’s guns.

Which brings me to my biggest disappointment. Ok, they, for whatever reason, nerfed MG36 - again, it wasn’t all that awesome to begin with - but this LMG still kills. But the thing doesn’t have the red dot in the middle of the scope (at least on hardcore, not sure about regular servers)!! This bug was there from the very begining and one would think it would get fixed espcially since they are nerfing M60, it’s just really disappointing to see it still there. It’s a nice gun, totally not usable though, due to a stupid stupid bug that can be identified within like 5 seconds of playing with MG36. Stupid.

And yeah, I thought game’s performance decreased but I wasn’t sure if I was just seeing things.

I believe DICE is in Sweden, not Italy.

That’s a hardcore mode thing.
Last night, after patching, I played on a normal sever and the dot was there.

I remember on hardcore before the patch, using the gun, going “iron sights” and not getting the red dot.
When I died I and chose the red-dot perk and there was still no red dot.

CG seems to have a lot more “drop” on the projectile now. The damage radius is also smaller. Do you use the Explosive perk? Without it, you need to pretty much hit dead on to kill someone. I think I’ve only been killed by the CG about 3 times all night last night, was a welcome relief.

The PP2000 was actually my favorite SMG by far. Taken with magnum you could snipe really well with it, and with the 40-round mag… it was pretty nasty. I wasn’t surprised to see the nerf.

The M60 is still pretty dang nasty, it just takes an extra bullet to kill someone now. I find it’s more effective tap firing while some of the lighter LMGs like the Type 88 are doing really well with consecutive bursts now. I still need to experiment more, though, but overall I’ve been seeing a lot more variety of weapons being used (and lots of AN-94s). I think overall I like the feel of things post-patch.

a few more games in, the ‘nade’ does feel nerf’d. I don’t get as many immediate kills from medium range as I used to. Oh well, time to move on :-(

the CG still seems meaty with the explosives pack.

still see some m60 madness.

but overall, seems people are spreading out to different weapons configs.

People are saying the PP2000 changes didn’t make it in, probably a misnamed file or something.

Bolt action sniper rifles got positively brutalized, there seems to be no reason to ever use the M95 unless you can’t take a chopper down with anything else.

I find it sad they’d nerf the underbarrel shotgun when no one ever used it anyway because a miss was fatal.

I thought nobody used the 40mm shotgun because it wasn’t the tube. I agree it’s an odd tweak though.

I’ve actually been killed by bullets instead of 40mm’s. Nice!

I got killed by a guy the other day (prior to the patch) with 9 gold stars in the 40mm shotgun. I had to give some serious kudos to the guy right then and there.

There are plenty of situations where you’d be using one of the AR’s that aren’t spray and pray (AN-94 although it has a frighteningly small amount of spread when you just continuously fire) and it’d be great to have a shotgun backup for house cleaning. But the problem was that even though it had twice the pellets and thus was the strongest shotgun easily you only got that single shot and had to endure a lengthy reload when you did drop an ammo pack. If it gave you 4 shells per “cartridge” (fuck reality really) then it’d be much more useful.

Also, honestly, a 40mm grenade projectile will instakill anyone at close range too. It wasn’t all that bad for “house cleaning” itself, with the added bonus of dominating midrange combat and being able to blow cover :)

I’m not looking forward to the 40mm shotgun changes, I really enjoyed that as an emergency weapon.

Yeah, one of the great things about this game though, is you can destroy cover that you then find yourself needing to defend from.

I just unlocked the M16A2 and am having a hard time settling between it and the AN-94. I feel like the 94 hits harder but the M16 is more accurate. Maybe I should go with accuracy; it doesn’t matter how hard I hit if I miss :o

I killed a person with a smoke grenade for the first time today. It was hilarious.

it also doesn’t matter how much you hit if it isn’t enough to put em down ;) they are both good. i tend to go with the 94 though

I hit a helicopter with a smoke grenade from really really far away and I think it did a lot of damage–it immediately started trailing black smoke–but didn’t actually kill it. It was funny to see because there was also a cloud of white smoke a couple hundred feet up too.

Good grief. Rush is a terrible experience when the other team is much better than yours. I take it auto-balancing just matches number and not skill levels. Ouch.

I love objective based team games when things are going well, but I really despise it when teammates are no longer working together or arming/disarming/spotting whatever they should do.

It gets even worse when the teammates are friends. It’s those times that I slip back into the mindless comfort of squad deathmatch where I don’t care what my teammates do as long as they aren’t reviving me.

AN-94 is more accurate. Don’t feel bad though I got way more kills with the m16 and it “felt” better to use.
