i tend to stick with the m416 because of automatic fire. i never really got the feel for the an94… i can see that it IS much more accurate but in short short range, i always got killed with it. but then again i never used it that much. i have seen some ppl rack up lots of kills with the initial assault aek971.

actually I prefer the smg’s, like the aks74 in the engineer class. that gun just feels right for me (mainly play the apc/tank driver-gunner). i almost feel more at home in vehicles (false sense of security with all the armor!)

Use whatever feels right for you I say, it’s fucking boring playing with nothing but m60 medics and I’m glad there’s usually only one AN-94 expert on the other team (one guy got me about 15 times in a round, it’s definitely the MW2 player weapon of choice). Never use the Raffica though because that thing sucks.

I LOVE the new loading times on my ATI card. For the first time in a Battlefield game I can actually just jump in for a quick round or two. It takes 5 seconds to load a map, not a minute.

I’d also reccomend… if you really want to play online, just turn off Bloom and HSAA (or whatever that thing is). I got at least a 15-20 fps increase and didn’t really notice much difference in graphics. except maybe the shiny glow of the snow and sky.

the game has great load times for me… i just recently reinstalled BF2 out of nostalgia… holy cow… that game still has 5 minute load times (for precaching whatnut). this new DICE engine is a beauty.

Wow, that effect is so integral to the look and feel of the game, I wonder what the game looks like without it? I can’t even picture what this game would look like without the bloom effect. And since I’m playing the 360 version, I can’t find out either.

It just look slightly less glowy in the sky, the snow, etc. But still it does have a fair amount of glowiness, don’t think it erases the effect fully.

I thought this for the one day I had the new ATI drivers before the patch came out and introduced the weird spawn lag. Given with one hand and taken away with the other.

Spawn lag seems like a issue with AV software.

Really? I’m only running MSE. I was finding yesterday by the time I’d got in, one MCOM was destroyed. I never had that with the long ATI load times.

Edit: Ok, that happened once, but still.

The TT88 MG is surprisingly effective when used in spray mode like the mini gun in UT99 at close range and firing single shots with the ACOG sights for medium-long range, I think I found my new favourite MG after the PKM changes.

HOLY COW, thank god for the fixes to the server browser. Finding a game at 12am last night was a piece of cake, and I found some decent servers that I had never seen before.

I do not, however, fully trust the filtering system just yet. Also, lag on the whole seemed a little better for me last night, maybe I’m nuts, but the game just felt a good deal smoother after the patch.

I’m probably nuts.

I had stutter in spawn in before the ati patch and after the ati patch, so it’s a problem introduced with the new update of the game.

Forget about what i have said about AV, it seems that’s only in some specific cases, try the renderaaheadlimit tweak from Hrose.

Wait wait, i was right the first time XD XD

Thanks. Still not convinced - I exempted that folder, and I still have something of a delay. It could be better, or I could be imagining it. Certainly not fixed though…

HOLY BALLS the tracer gun is SOOO much better now. Projectile is like 5x faster, I was able to tag apaches multiple times no problem.

Once the vehicle has a tracer on it, it seems to be open season for the RPG and CG, as they lock on from almost any distance and lock on tightly, too.

Bottom line: engineers NEED to be carrying the tracer around at all times if they have anti-armor rockets equipped.

Also the AN-94 is now ridiculously powerful. Sigh. Every third death is by that gun, it seems.

Alistair, try to add the gamesettings.ini file from BFBC2 folder (in my documents) to the AV exceptions, i had to add that file individually in Nod32 to fix the problem.

What’s the verdict on the recent patch and performance issues (360 version)? The one time I played this week I was getting a ridiculous amount of stuttering and rubber-banding. Was that just a fluke, or is that how things will be until the next patch?

I’m really liking it. I have actually seen better online play… but a week ago I did a total reconfig, with FOV/lowered some settings etc. But usually I go to servers that are under 100-125 ms (from faves or history)

I see alot more mixups in loads ESPECIALLY in medic. not as much use the m60 anymore. I do noticed a few more AN94 assualt, but not that much. Assault Nade rambo is toned down, as is the gustav. Since the patch you need to be more accurate with either … and with the gustav, even with the explosives, its definitely toned down (which is good). I see alot more teamplay on the reg pub servers I am on, and alot more good gunplay with various mixes.

The servers I play on generally have regular players that know how to play as a team. so we dont get too many of one class, and good support snipers… most know to leave the armor to me (I’m usually awesome with the tanks/apc! feel like a mechwarrior darting in and arnd!)

Yep. I had the same experience; it’s way easier to tag choppers now and the tracer+RPG is way more effective at taking out choppers than the AT4.
