I haven’t had time to play since the patch and I’m kind of stunned that you’re the first complaint I’ve seen along those lines. The AN-94 was my pre-patch anti-60/tube armament and having it buffed up seems like they wanted to give precision aiming assaulters a pwnstick.

the patch hasn’t hit the 360 so if you’re having lag it isn’t because of that. there was a title update to enable the Dr Pepper costumes though.

Yeah, I haven’t played the new patch either, though at the very least it would IMO be more appropriate for assault to have the pwnstick than medic.

AN-94 was one of my faves pre-patch too. So on the one hand I’m happy to see improvements, but OTOH I don’t want it to become the Assault weapon du jour.

Re: A/V while gaming. First rule of Fight Club…turn off your A/V!

I find that spotting, motion detectors (THROW THEM!!), and defibs are often the only difference between a good team and a bad team.

It’s amazing how many games I’ve played where no one on my team is spotting. It’s also amazing how powerful spotting is. I’d say half the time I spot someone who’s within range of a teammate, I get a spot assist a few seconds later. It feel like, well, like actually spotting for a buddy.

Were we on the same server? >.>

I just got the AN-94, and it’s the first time I’ve ever felt effective playing as Assault. I got the gold star four games after unlocking it.

The 360 version is still pre-patch, but I did notice that besides snipers, the people I died to the most use the AN-94. It seemed like everyone was either a sniper or playing assault, using the AN-94.

That doesn’t seem to work in MSE, but disableing realtime protection seemed to do it…

Well the AN-94 was sort of the best gun prepatch already, they just buffed it even more.

Ok, thanks.

Is it correct that the patch will set a minimum number of players in each game, so games in off-peak hours won’t be re-enactments of that movie with Lee Marvin and that other guy?

I spent most of tonight playing on hardcore servers and I must say that it makes the game oh so much better. Finally I can kill someone without having to pump a whole fucking clip in their face.

omg finally unlocked xm8 compact as an engineer. it’s the only way i’m able to get any kills with it on full auto.

I’ve been doing quite well with the Thompson.

I love the game after the patch… I just unlocked the M60, so I never got to be overpowered… but it’s still a good gun. And the mix of weapons is great - although most pub servers have way to many recon snipers not spotting.
Love the tracer dart too.

Does the recon upgrade for spotting work at all? I read it like it will automactically spot for my team when I have an enemy in my sights, but as the kids say “The Goggles, they do nothing!”

I think it spots everyone in your sights closer than 75m when you press the spot button. It does work, just keep in mind there’s a cooldown for spotting if you press it 5? times within a few seconds.

Edit: apparently it is supposed to auto spot people too, not sure if that works. I’ll try it later with the VSS and red dot sight.

Lots of disconnects on the PS3 lately. Or, Cannot connect to EA server message. It’s frustrating when we finally get a solid two teams in RUSH to get booted out in the middle. I’d hate to have to go back to MW2 but at least that connection is stable.

Same for me on the PC. Post patch. I wouldn’t say lots, but several.

I just got disconnected from a game and now every time I join a game I have no specializations and everything is locked in place (I can’t choose guns or anything). I’m also getting “server full” messages on servers that aren’t full. I logged out and back in to no avail. I hope this is just a temporary bug.

Something is definately fishy going on with the net code as of late. Knifing sucks. You never know if you’re going to get it (reminds me of BF2 knifing now). I’ve stood right behind someone, emptied an entire clip and they turn around and two shots I’m dead. This only happens on certain servers though. We were jumping around last night trying to find servers that are “registering” hits.

Also seeing some sort of “speed” hack where people are running as fast as quad bike.

Overall, I like the new server browser, the color blind option and the saving of kits between rounds. But the other tweaks to guns / netcode / hitboxes I’m not liking. I noticed that the 4x scope is somehow bugged. I get much, much better hits not scoping in. WTF is up with that?

Ya, I’d agree - there’s something terribly wrong with hit detection and maybe game syncing in general.

Playing last night with friends, was on Panama as US, taking the A flag which was going down. Killed a guy in the radius - flag is moving up, and there are no friendlies on radar, so I’m likely the only guy in radius. I move to the stairwell to the left of the flag that leads up to a double-stacked trailer and sit on the stairs to wait the flag raising. I sit there for about a second - and I’m killed by a shotgun. I see the name of who killed me, and it’s one of my friends and I ask him over teamspeak where he was and how he shot me - his response, “I was between the two trailers(at the foot of the stairs) and I saw you run towards me and then turn as to start going up the stairs and i shot you”. Needless to say, from my vantage point, there was no one down that gap when i ran towards the stairs.

Personally, this kind of de-sync explains alot of the things I am seeing - from missing knife kills(stab a guy twice, and he turns and kills me with one shot) to missing sure shots(lining up a guy down a corridor with 5 bursts of a sighted AN, only to have him run down the corridor and out to safety) and it’s very frustrating. I know it’s not happening just to me, and maybe all the kills I get are similar circumstances for the victim.

The sort of problems you guys are talking about are the main reason I’ve been playing less. I’m super frustrated with having someone in my crosshairs, squeezing off more than a few shots and missing all of them, only to have them turn around and blow me away. Even more frustrating is the run around a corner to safety followed by a death a second later. The game always seems to “catch up” with any death - when I kill someone, their body warps back a step or two. When I die, it’s from a shot to a location I was a second ago.

That video linked earlier is amazing. I wish that the fix was realistic for me, but the servers that I play on tend to have really mixed pings and I don’t want to have to make the adjustments every time. There are a bunch of these videos on youtube that showcase just how bad/mixed the hitboxes can be.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vZh02AlYxU is another one. Some of the shots in here just blow my mind.

I absolutely love this game when it works well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxlY18iGUNI I mean, look at that shit.

The more I play this game, the more I love it. We played for 5 or 6 hours today. I just love how the player community is pretty smart overall. Most people use spotting a lot, and frequent spotting makes you work great as a team. I also get revived a lot by friendly medics, and it’s great. Once you’ve been a Medic, you learn that side of things, and then it isn’t annoying anymore to be revived. It’s only annoying when it’s unexpected.

I also really love supplying ammunition as an Assault class. Really, each of the three classes so far have had really useful things about them, for the team and for yourself. When I’m an engineer, it’s really awesome to be able to fix vehicles and destroy vehicles. When I’m a medic, it’s so awesome to be able to revive people. I especially love it when my friend I both played medics the other day in Rush, and between the two of us we could keep reviving each other and be a great two man army. And finally Assault is great because you can keep providing ammo to Recon classes, and yourself, since all the Assault weapons run out of ammo pretty fast.

I’ve briefly tried the Recon class too, and that has a lot of potential too.

I’m also really impressed with just how trouble-free and smooth the game is. (360 version). I’ve never really had lag issues, or connection issues. I love being able to fire it up and enter the same game as people on my friends list, and it automatically drops me into their squad if there’s room. It is a thoroughly streamlined and polished experience.
