After a few weeks off this game I’m back with a vengeance. I take back what I said about the M16 – it’s less powerful, but in retrospect it was overpowered before.
The 40mm nerf has been fastastic too. I now take the 40mm SG rounds, and although they have weird lag issues I have a lot of fun one-shotting two people at the same time.

I think the 40mm shotgun’s problem is that smoke and 40mm grenades can one hit kill people too, if you had to hit the head with the grenades at close range there would be more reason to actually use the shotgun attachment.

In some ways I’d argue the 40mm smoke/grenades are more offective than the shotty in that if you hit them in close range, they die. No matter what. Which boggles my mind. You mean I can take several large caliber rounds to the chest and live, but a relatively low velocity cannister shaped projectile hitting my body armor gibs me? :D

Always seemed really weird to me. I can kind of see that they wanted to go “Oh, man, if you’re lucky enough to hit someone with a smoke grenade it’s gonna KILL THEM!” but in practice it makes them compete with the 40mm attachment in close range combat.

Whoa, whoa wait a minute. Is the AN-94 being buffed again? Or do they mean reverting the buff they performed on it?

Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.
The G3, VSS, and all SemiAutomatic rifles now settle slightly faster between shots when aiming.
The PKM, Type 88LMG, G3, An94, and 40mm shotgun have returned to their former glory.
Increased the damage of the MG3 to bring it in line with the rest of the LMGs.
Fixed a bug where the Saiga12 with slugs would do too much damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where the SVU would do too little damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where M95 rounds would not kill armored targets with headshots.

I think that means they reverted on the buff.

On another note, semi auto rifle settle faster between shots = sexy.

Good lord I sure hope so. I went 29 and 2 with the AN-94 last night on a 24-man rush server, that thing is ridiculous!

I actually ended up getting banned by the admin, although I couldn’t really blame him. I’d probably have thought the same thing but… that gun is just that good, especially if you have a good position.

So I bought this and it arrived today (25 bucks, I love UK shops) and you cannot change the FOV in singleplayer ? They go to the lenghts of giving player the option to change fov via ini tweak, and make it so that it works in MP only ? Please someone help me understand this logic.I really do not want to play this with consolitited FOV.

Apparently this is possible.

yes I can use google thank you! this works for MP only.

No need for snark when someone is trying to help you.

Seems an odd situation… usually it’s the other way around (tweaks working for SP but not MP, for obvious reasons).

Does this still work? I thought the recent patch broke/changed it?

The real question is why you would play the singleplayer.

Come on, it wasn’t really a snark. And I did wrote that I know about ini tweak, but that it works for MP only.

Anyway, apparently, for SP it works too, but it resets itself after every cutscene, loading, etc, so it does not really work at all. But I found a post on official forums by DICE that it is known issue, so here is hoping next patch will fix it.

And why play SP ? I am one of those weirdos that don’t play online MP (4 years of counterstrike healed me for life), and friend was gushing over the SP in this game, so I bit.

Let me know how the single player goes if you get the FOV thing figured out for yourself, Paul.

I’ve played the multiplayer a lot, but never felt the desire to try out single. If it’s actually good, I’ll definitely give it a shot. I only played the first mission, which is set during World War II, and though it was a fun ride, Just Cause 2 had a similar mission that was 10 times as fun, which kind of spoiled things for me a bit, so I never went back to singleplayer in BC2.

You bought a Battlefield game for the single player? The single player is… perfectly serviceable, 2005-2006 era shooting gallery stuff. It’s nice in a nostalgic way, and it has some pretty views, but you could play it in coma.

I would honestly recommend you try the multiplayer, particularly Rush mode. It’s very much the focus of the game. It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up, and it’s a whole different kettle of fish to Counterstrike. It’s far more fast-paced, and there’s much less waiting about doing nothing. The ability to destroy buildings, the squad-based dynamic and the general sense of chaos make for a pretty compelling time, and it’s a little more forgiving than MW2.

Well, next time hear to me before your friend :P. BF BC2 single player is very mediocre, (in plot, a pathetic attempt of humor, characters, AI, wannabe CoD cinematic style but not as good as CoD, variety, length) the worst sp i played this year, but the MP is awesome.

Well, maybe I will try MP after I am done with SP, since you all say it’s so awesome.
Naeblis, you killjoy, maybe I will like it :P

Bwah-hah-hah!

Look at the cold black void of a game you have bought and despair!!

PS: Maybe you will like it. Other people liked the campaign.

I played through the single player at a friends’ place since he had bought it for MP mainly.
I bought the game this week as well for the price Paul mentioned because I plan to play the single player again.
The humor in the game is so over the top and the action rocks.
I don’t plan to play much multiplayer if any at all.

I consider the Single Player way better than the one in MW2 and the humor clicked with me (“No more Cowboys’ cheerleaders?!?”).
