They have released today two “new” maps: Atacama in Rush and Port Valdez in Conquest.

Atacama has a hard beginning for the attackers, but i think it will be a good or at least decent rush map. But i don’t like P. Valdez in Conquest, is very linear. It plays still like Rush, but with two attacking teams, if you know what i mean.

They also have added in these maps some new toys: a fixed grenade lanucher and a fixed AA minigun and a new jeep with grenade launcher and mg (funny, a vehicle with the same capabilities is also in Arma 2 OA).

The mini gun on Atacama Desert is a lil over the top. Poor choppers don’t stand a chance now. It’s even worse than the AA-gun.

I just picked this up again after not giving it a fair try at all when it was released, and surprisingly am really liking it. If anyone on 360 is still playing, please friend me up: CaIvinpewpewpew and play with me!

Servers have gone from 20k to 1.5k :(

Man hit my up on google talk and lets play some then.

Sorry CalvinGT. My friends and I gave up the game and went back to Modern Warfare 2.

Was it because we like MW2 better? Nope.
Was it because more of us owned MW2? Nope, we all bought BC2 and enjoyed the multiplayer a lot.

It was because for 3 weeks in a row, we just could NOT get into the same game together. One of us kept getting kicked out or was unable to join. So eventually we just admitted defeat and went back to MW2, which still works fine for letting us all join the same game.

I wonder what the hell happened to BF:BC2 that it just would not let us play together anymore?

You guys share a room? if yes, maybe is a ports problem.

You are using user-speak, so maybe something is lost in translation: wen you say NEVER, it mean never, or rarelly?

What I would do is do some pings to the servers, and see if theres packets losts, or something.

I stoped playing BC2 wen “I finished it” and the game or the userbase had nothing new to give to me. In defense of BC2, I stoped to play all other BC instances… I stoped playing BC2 earlier because is less a game, and more a lobby to wait for the next installation of the serie (that will also ve a lobby to wait for the next one). A BF game must have a pair of classic maps or is a failure, and the maps of BC2 where never awesome (IMHO), and for some reason no one imported the classic ones from BF2, BF1942.

I tried MW2 a weekend and LOL’ed a lot. Weapons don’t kill people dead, weapons teleport people somewhere else (spawn points) where can continue killing teammates. There are levels, but I accidentally visited a hacked one and was level 70 or something in minutes. The servers that control the ranks don’t seems to have any sanitification filter …or common sense.

I wasn’t there personally. I was taking a vacation, so I wasn’t even there to complicate things by one more person trying to join. By never, I mean never. For three weeks in a row, my friends tried to get into one game together. One of them is in Washington, one in Idaho, two in separate houses in Illinois (to address your ‘share a room’ question, the answer to which is no). The game wouldn’t allow them to get into the same game together.

This has also happened sometimes in MW2, but we try a different person hosting the game, and we can usually get it to work then. But with BC2, they kept trying different things, and changing router settings, etc., and nothing worked. They just couldn’t get into one game together.

So when I joined them again a few weeks later, after coming back from out of town, I asked them why we weren’t playing BC2 anymore, and they filled me in on their efforts. Even when I was there, we had a lot of trouble getting into one BC2 game sometimes, but it was never this bad before.

And people ask why we need IPv6.

The Invasion game-type for Halo: Reach made me miss BC2’s Rush games, so I reinstalled it (360 version) the other day to see how it’s doing. The average people per game seems higher than I remember; most games are hitting 8-12 people per team, as opposed to the 4-8 that I was seeing a few months ago, and I’m not seeing the same ridiculously imbalanced teams anymore. I have no idea if that means overall activity has actually increased, or if they just improved the way players are moved around to fill games, but it’s definitely better, whatever the reason.

Helicopters seem easier to knock down, which I like a lot. I hit 4 of the non-Apache ones with CG rockets, and it only took 1 rocket to kill each, so it seems like they hit harder and fly faster. I also knocked down an Apache using a mortar strike, which was awesome, though admittedly lucky (I targeted the Apache as soon as the guy got in it, and he was only at treetop level when the mortars arrived).

I am. It’s annoying.

Incidentally, my recollection is that that CGs always took out transport helos in one hit. Unless by not-apaches you mean hinds? In which case I dunno. I think I’ve seen those survive one rocket, but I’m far from certain.

Just transport helos the other day, but today I used an AT4 to destroy an attack helicopter at the last base on Isle Inocentes (is that the Hind?). I have no idea which hits harder between the AT4 and the CG.

I haven’t seen any of the attack helos do the circle-strafe-of-invulnerability, and they seem to get knocked down in a reasonable amount of time (though sometimes the sky looks like Blackhawk Down with all the rockets being fired at them). Did they change the helo handling?

The AT4 does significantly more damage to vehicles than the RPG, which in turn does more damage to vehicles than the CG. Now, if you’re hunting people the CG is your go-to weapon, though the RPG is still decent at that.

No idea if they changed helicopter handling, to be honest.

Yes, the Russian attack chopper is the hind.

The CG was always the infantry killer, mostly speed but it also had a bonus vs infantry. Sounds like they’ve recently nerfed the AT4 so it doesn’t do more than rpgs which is silly since it has less splash and takes significantly more skill to use.

That said, IME the Carl Gustav will statistically work the best for most of the situations you encounter on a fully-populated (32-person) server. It still works reasonably well against vehicles, particularly with the explownage perk, and it basically allows you a one-button response to any threat that appears (except maybe a UAV).

I do abhor such a reductionist take on BC2, so I will sometimes take a different launcher based on concentration and perceived threat of enemy armor. You can’t really go wrong with the CG though.

Nope. People are playing it smart and changing their key bindings back to BC1. BC2 heli controls seriously limit the way you fly.

Also there are only two maps with attack helicopters(Havok and Apache): Port Valdez Conquest (Rush is Apache only) and Atacama Desert Conquest (Rush is HiND only).

The HiND has to be the most useless vehicle in the game. It’s handling is worse than the BlackHawk and the gunner is the only that can shoot and even hes stuck with a crappy Vulcan Canon. To top it off the damn thing is almost as big as a BlackHawk making it an easy target to dart.

There’s a pin called “Squad Member Pin” with a description which says “In a round, obtain one attack and one defend order.” I assume an attack order is what happens when you damage an MCOM station and get that notice that says “squad attack order +10 points” or something like that. How do you get a defend order?

I’ve tried playing Onslaught on Hardcore a few times recently, but it’s unplayable about half the time due to lag. Also, games will sometimes end for no reason. Is this instability new, or is Onslaught just buggy?

Attack and defend orders are when the squad leader points at a flag and asks the squad to either attack or defend it (depending of whose flag it is).
So you’ll need a squad leader actually using the tools provided… good luck with that on a public server.

Doesn’t it work when you’re the one pointing at the flag and orders it as well? I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten the pin that way (and I only play on public servers).

Btw, I didn’t know there were squad leaders… are you sure about that? I thought anyone in your squad could give those orders.

It’s been a while. Perhaps you’re right.
I thought the top name in the squad was assigned leader, but perhaps anyone can do it.
