I’m getting back into this on 360 in advance of Vietnam and also because I couldn’t care less about Black Ops.

I will probably pick it back up when Vietnam hits. Loved the game, but, everyone I played with wandered on to other games.

That made me check Steam prices, US store has it for 20$ while EU1 is still 50 euro, that’s 55$ excluding VAT.
For 15-20 euro I would have gifted a few copies to friends who need to play this but not at 5$ over US launch price.

Release dates at last!

No, seriously – VIP Map Pack 7 goes live tomorrow! This is your chance to relive the awesomeness of fan favorite map Oasis, plus three more maps never before available in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer. For a complete rundown of everything VIP Map Pack 7, here are some posts we prepared earlier.

Also: December 21. Save the date. That is when Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will launch (December 22 for PS3 in Europe). If you prefer your battlefielding on PC, you can get a three day headstart on EA Store and Steam, where it will be available on December 18.

So new maps tomorrow and Vietnam in two weeks? Sweet!

$15 was the sale price, I think it’s back to its regular of $20.

The M14 and G3 will be scopeable too. I always thought it was strange that you couldn’t do that before.

I fired this up to see how it looked on my new big screen tv (answer - sweet) and I remembered how much I liked it.

I d/led a big map pack and was looking forward to playing Rush on some new maps but all the games I got into featured the same maps - waddup?

I’m also replaying the single player on Hard, it is a blast. I love using the 40mm to mess buildings and cover up.

Is the new 'Nam DLC include a single player campaign?

No SP component.

The M14 with a scope seems a bit overpowered at the moment which is funny cause balance was the reason for not allowing scopes on all-class weapons.

For me the technical achievement of this game is the sound design.

For sure, I always shoot barrels and fuel tanks whenever I see them. The whooomp of their big explosions is unparalleled.

So, with the new patch came false positives from punk buster (confirmed on the PB site). I think I’ll hold off playing for a day or two until it gets sorted out.

So I played a few minutes of Rush on Oasis last night. I hope it was just that I dropped into a game where the attackers had hijacked all the helos and armor because I was a spawn and die, spawn and die spawn and die type situation.

It reminded me of when the Germans managed to plant two tanks at the end of the alley where the Russians spawn in the Stalingrad map of Battlefield 1942 only if the Germans were able to blow up all the Russian’s cover. And had Raptors. And were dicks.

I didn’t have time to try that map again, but is it that unbalanced?

I only had time to try each new map once yesterday, but it did seem like the attackers on Oasis (Rush) had all the armor+helos. I don’t mind an armor imbalance, but I hate attack helos, especially when they do that ridiculous circle-strafing. Is there an anti-aircraft weapon anywhere near the first base?

Harvest (Rush) seemed like it could be a lot more fun, because tanks for both teams, and I didn’t see any helos.

Heavy Metal (Conquest) was also fun, because it’s huge and it seems like both sides have easy access to every kind of vehicle.

Oasis on conquest is pretty fun. I just hate the APC, it’s either a deathtrap in the wrong hands or a killing machine in the right hand.

Harvest day brings back a lot of memories from Highway Tampa in BF2 with the huge open fields. It’s just a shame that tanks are so weak in this game.

Cold War on Rush is the only one I didn’t like. The map is way too small and the objectives are too close to each other. One motion sensor will usually cover the entire base and attackers don’t have any way to flank the defenders. The defenders have three emplaced MG’s that put up a wall of lead for anyone stupid enough to raise their head. It’s just one big chaos, it reminds me of Crossfire from CoD:MW but without the grenades.

It was all circle strafing madness all the time. The attack helos seem pretty much unkillable in the right hands. It is better if the defenders have them because the attackers can still reach the M coms. By the time I (rage) quit 2/3rds of the defenders had also.

Both sides have armor and helos in Oasis (maybe not at the same rush phase). I think attack helos became underpowered when their splash damaged got nerfed.

I’m not sure there’s any AA weapon, but you could try using the MG on the tanks. If they’re circle-strafing they probably will be within your zenith limit at some point. On my last game I took the UAV, quickly went to maximum altitude and destroyed an enemy attack helo with it :). But that is only feasible if the helo doesn’t move for a while.

I really like the long-range tank encounters in the new maps, it’s very satisfying to hit an enemy tank that is behind cover when it’s sufficiently far away that the shells do a nice parabola. I also like the closer range maps but this adds a little diversity.

Have anyone else managed to get Update 3 to work on the 360 version? I downloaded it from the store, restarted, but then I couldn’t see any of the new maps (just the few original out-of-the-box maps). And on the store, the update is marked blue (not downloaded), but when I access it, then it says it has been downloaded. And the Map Pack 7 is green (meaning it’s been downloaded).

I removed the update from the hdd, and redid everything, but got the same result. Man, why do EA have to have their own fucked up store on XBL? I never get problems like this with regular games (with content on XBL).

They were saying on Twitter that there were some problems with the new maps yesterday, but they’re supposed to be fixed now.

I’ll be playing some this weekend if I can finally knock out Assassin’s Creed (yes, I’m just now playing through it for the first time).
