Battlestar Galactica 26: Winning the Marathon

I can’t help, @rho21

Ugh, is this going to be one of those games where centurions are actually a problem?

1 card, but don’t expect much. @rowe33

I can do some heavy lifting but would be basically card-less after.

I can’t help much with this one - 1 card for me.

@Navaronegun

1 card. @Knightsaber

2 cards.

Slowly they filtered in. Ships arriving singly or in clusters, creating security vulnerabilities in the defensive perimeter. As each arrived, and identified itself, the pilots maneuvered them into secure positions. So far all remained tightly clustered within a CAP route to fend off would be assailants. As of yet no heroics from either side had begun, instead preferring to preserve force and feel eachother out. As far as pogroms go, this was an orderly, and so far bloodless, one.

But what threatened the balance was the first real test. Despite explicit instructions, one vessel did not obey protocol. No security code verification, no course deviation, no radio acknowledgement. Simple, straightforward advance. But to follw through on threats was distinct from making them. And though the crucible was lit, it had not yet burned away the impurities, not yet reforged them in steel, devoid of sentimentality and humanity. In time such things might become easy, a dreadful thought, but today it was not.

Do these potential few justify risking the many. And can you live with making that decision. Guilt, no matter the choice, would be their fate. So as the kilometers ticked away, the meters counting down like sand in an hourglass, the Admiral and fleet had a choice. They chose the known.

The Olympic Carrier was unknown. The potential losses unmeasurable. But the fleet behind them was concrete, something they could point to, and they would. The President would speak to this, in time. Various and sundry leaders would step forward to assist. Much influence would be curried and spent to ameliorate this act, one the Admiral would order personally. None, save the CAG, would have their hands free And her only because the coordination of patrols was deemed nessecary, so the Galactica herself turned her guns.

It was a terrible sight, but one that the people would come to understand in time. The crucible began its work, and the question became: what would they lose, even if they survived this journey?

@Lantz

Thoughts on nuking? @rowe33 @Navaronegun @Knightsaber @rho21 ?

Why not just jump? What does it look like?

We can’t jump, we’re not even at the -3 slot if we wanted to risk that

Then I agree with Nuking. We are in pretty good shape if we can handle the Cylon issue in space.

I like it but cannot assist.

Other option is I can take a good swing at the heavies in 4. Anyways, want to hear from the Admiral before committing

I’m fine with nuking; we hardly ever use these bad boys anyways.

Yeah, I think the culture here is way too stingy with the Thermonuclear devices.

Agreed on using a nuke, assuming anyone can offer some Strategic Planning (I can’t). We’re probably better off attacking the heavies if not.
Either way you should get into space in an assault raptor and use your CAG power, probably to escort a civilian out of the grand pile of civvies.

I will:
Launch to 4 in an Assault Raptor
CAG to escort the top civilian from 2
Play Leadership 1XO on @rowe33

I would note I could make good use of an XO back between CAG and other actions.

I’ll move to FTL Control then launch a nuke into space 5, phone bold.

I get the feeling that none of us is toting around a SP.
