[apologist]You’re reading too much into a throw away line! Sure, it is one they kept coming back to, mentioning it what seems like a dozen times from different characters including the Anders-hybrid, but jeez it was just a bit of dialogue!![/apologist]

Actually, special effects were created of the Raptor and Vipers being blown up in the background during the scene where the settlers walked by in a line. But Moore said that was cut because it was too distracting.
So the intent was certainly that they destroyed most of their tech.
I was rewatching the pilot again last night, and there is a near throw away line at the very start where one of the cylons says
“They were so affraid of their enemies, they looked backwards for protection”.
Trashing any and everything that could possibly link them back to the cylons makes sense with that mentality.
I also like the robots at the end, keeps in theme that everything has happened before, and it will happen again. Depressing, but interesting that they cannot break the cycle.
Also, has this guy not watched Six Feet Under? That exact image is featured prominently in one of the last couple episodes. Except the dude kills the bird and dumps it in the bin.
Anyway, I thought it was a shitty ending to a shitty last season. A turd hat to wear for the toilet party.
When it ended I started singing the song from the Planet of the Apes musical in the Simpsons:
“Oh my god! I was wrong. It was Earth, all along - they finally made a monkey - yes we finally made a monkey - yes you finally made a monkey out of me!”

No, you’ll never make a money out of me!
The alternate ending. I love the mock-up magazine.
It’s cute, but as a multi-decade Geographic reader, I can assure you that its tone is way too snarky for verisimilitude.

Scientists discover remains of ancient starship, complete with fossilised human remains and what appear to be sentient robotic machines; salvage operation ensues and engineers are able to replicate some of the sentient robot tech. Fade to black.
Instead we got fucking dancing robots.

I think everyone ripping apart all the nuances of the show sucks donkey ass.
Great series finale.
Well, I don’t know if I’d go that far, but you’ve certainly got an argument.
After much thought, I think the show is still in my Top 5 of all time (along with Lost, The Wire, and The Shield) because at it’s highs it was just amazing. The best part of the whole deal was probably the amazing work of Bear McCreary. I’m going to try and make the next BSG concert.
Just got caught up on BSG this weekend. A couple things I wasn’t clear on:
Do Cylons age? I didn’t think they did, but then there’s talk here and there about them dying natural deaths. And the ones at the end seemed to feel mortal.
Why couldn’t Starbuck have just entered in the jump coordinates for Earth before the raid (or before Hera got kidnapped)? Was the entire point of everything that happened after the decision to jump to the Cylon colony just to cause enough stress in Starbuck so she could figure out how to jump to Earth? I guess I could buy that they needed to get Hera back because the Cylons might use her to repopulate and come back to kill humanity after eventually discovering Earth.
They painted themselves into a corner with all the metaphysical stuff and I guess that was as good of an ending as we could have hoped for.

I think jump coordinates are relative.
Well, anyway, that explains it pretty easily, so lets go with that.
she didn’t know the numbers/pattern hera did were specifically earth’s coordinates. so yeah, only during the stress of imminent destruction when adama ordered a jump anywhere did she try the magic coordinates.
BSG, the complete series, on Blu-Ray. Remember, the entire series was shot in 1080p.

Geeze, just when I’d almost managed to completely forget BSG.
There’s no option for just Season 1 in Blu-Ray? I don’t think I’d want to rewatch the rest.
