I have an Atlas armed with two LL and an AC 10. It seems like a nice mix.

This seems like the kind of game it would be easy to mod new campaigns for along the lines of Shadowrun, but with less complexity. You just need a cut-scene creator and a scenario editor. Of course I know very well both these things are non-trivial, but on the other hand they certainly have them in-house already.

That’s going to be the fun part of the meta changes here, it will create some utility for mech chassis that currently are suboptimal. As much as I loved the Atlas in the tabletop days it’s been strictly inferior to the King Crab in this game due to lack of hardpoints for the kind of SRM/ML spam that was previously the optimum strategy. Sure it had the tonnage to mount a lot of big weapons but then it couldn’t handle the heat. Might be some fun possibilities for some better Atlas builds now.

I really need to opt into the beta branch so I can start playing around with this.

That’s… terrifyingly cheap. 7M? That’s like at-cost or below. Like under 350,000 in units sold.

Is Jordan Weisman just… bad at business? Is this why he sold out 20 years ago? It’s like they ask him, hey, here’s some free hotdogs and a large drink for your company, and he responds with “throw in a sunday and you got a deal.” Battletech comes “back” and the first thing he does is jump ship. Weird.

It’s almost like just like players get bored of BTech and move on, Mr. Weisman gets bored of running a company and moves on.

Tried an Awesome with 2 PPC++ and 2 LL++. Very meh. Lots of armor even after a bunch of heatsinks and 2 JJ. But, meh.

Hmm, well while it may not be some crazy multiple of revenue like a lot of mobile aquisitions, I think its a pretty fair deal, as that purchase price rises linked to revenue for five years. So in effect they get a payout now and more if their % of earnings exceeds that minimum purchase price. Which aint bad.

“Paradox pays a fixed purchase price of US$7,500,000 at the time of acquisition plus an additional purchase price corresponding to 25% of the acquired business’ earnings before publishing costs over the next 5 years to the extent such earnings exceed the fixed purchase price.”

full disclosure: since my first post I have entered into a business relationship with one of the parties. I wont go into details but I also want to be open and dont want folks to think I was sock puppeting here. I have zero knowledge of the background or whats in this deal beyond the press release.

Know this is a minor thing, but always a bug to me, can you move your mechs around to put them in the order you want in the mech bay with the latest patch? I’ve not turned on beta so hadn’t checked.

I am not sure what you mean. You can reorder your mechs. Drag and drop.

Negative. Not in beta at least. You using a mod for that?

Edit: Finally found a use for my Battlemaster. AC20++ 3ML (2++ and 1 +++) and SRM+++. 2X AC20 ammo. 1160 armor.

You mean before the mission starts or right as you start the mission?

In the mech bay.

I think I understand now. Sorry for not getting it. The answer is no.

PSA: Be careful when deleting saves. Now it’s much faster. BUT the list scrolls TO THE TOP after every deletion. Real easy to lose your last save.

Without seeing the balance sheet, it’s hard to know whether it was bad deal. Maybe the company had a lot of liabilities. Maybe the owners already drew out a lot of the cash value of the company before the sale. As Rod noted, the residual bit isn’t something to sneeze at.

On timing, one could argue this is one of the best times to sell—right after a success. We also don’t know if the former owners are staying on (seem to be, at least initially) and what type of employment package they got. Perhaps they just wanted to trade their equity in for a certain payout rather than the volatility of ownership.

So the spacebar speedup only applies during the tactical game? I was hoping it might apply throughout to speed up that cutscene if desired (although I still don’t mind it myself).

As far as I can tell, yes. Which doesn’t mean that I won’t hit it occasionally. Just to check. :)

I downloaded the beta patch and started a new campaign. I figured I’d hurry through the early game nonsense using my elite mechwarrior skills. After all I’ve beaten this game twice and so the early game should hold no challenge right?

I got past the opening tutorial/Kamea mission no problem. Then In my first mission with my merc team a combo of a DFA from a Spider and a Shadow Hawk unloading on me punched through my CT and lit off my AC/2 ammo. Just totally cored my BlackJack. Stupid AC ammo.

Does anyone else have an issue where F10 no longer works for quick save?

Menu scrolling is still irritatingly borked on my machine.

The stock designs, which put ammo in the torso, are pretty much insane, given that ammo explosions inside the torso (RT, CT and LT) kill the pilot. I always move the ammo to the arms. I wonder why the devs did that - it feels like there is a conflict between the rule about ammo explosions and the stock designs.
