I fell in love with this game when on the tutorial missions, my completely untouched shadow hawk was destroyed when an enemy mech walked up to it and punched it in the head. Head blew up, pilot killed…

I’m still in the tutorial mish but really digging the pacing and atmosphere.
I have a new rule, do pushups when I get headshotted. It’s my way to force myself to keep moving.
Won a mission on the last possible turn, which felt good. The enemy AI is generally solid, yeah. On this mission, it seemed to get a tad confused, in that it couldn’t figure out whether to face the turrets or my guys, but I guess it did about as well as it could. Overall, it’s pretty ruthless so that’s good.
The UI is a bit slow and clunky, yeah.

So, I know this is a bit off topic but…I was just listening to some of the music from the Mechwarrior games. Why didn’t I remember how GOOD it is? I mean, some of this stuff is just fantastic:

Taking a lot at the mods available so far gives me a very Uncle Albert vibe from Car Wars. Reinforced cockpits! Inferno SRMs! Larger ammo boxes!

Speaking of which, can we finally get a good turn based version of this game? Been waiting for almost 30s now.
I bet there’s an over-complicated board game version somewhere. There’s a relatively-simple version (2.88/5 weight). It’s okay. Drive around, plunder loot, get guns, get points.

That first mission confused me … Lore-wise, doesn’t the MRB hold mercenary payments in escrow to avoid the completed mission but no payment scenario? Fortunately, I haven’t run into the situation since and I’ve been playing for a bit.
I actually am on my second attempt at a campaign, and have been since day 2. My day 1 campaign ran out of money because I got a phyrric victory on that opening mission - 3 pilots in the hospital for 90 day+, mechs all shot to pieces. Failed my next mission and then ran out of money before I could field anything that looked like a lance. It was frustrating, but now I think the game is awesome.
F10 = quicksave. Hit before end of mission if you’re worried.
I’m really enjoying it as well, but I’m getting a tad frustrated that I can’t find a few milk run missions to recover my balance with when I need them, even one skull mission all have surprises waiting for me.
I don’t consider anything one skull that includes a heavy, SRM carriers, or reinforcements (some of which show up pretty much the same time as the 1st wave).
Don’t know how far you are but, I found another sector with 2* and 1.5* skull ratings. It’s the blue one with the bull. It was only 2-3 hops away so I am currently working that place for easy restful missions while my mechwarriors recuperate.

What is the loadout on SRM carriers? They seem kinda small to have as many as they fire and decent armor.
I haven’t found gameplay slow like some, EXCEPT passing time waiting for mechs and pilots to recover. Is there a way to speed up the clock?

10 srm-6 on each carrier. Not sure on the armor. Anyone know how damage is calculated? What I’ve read in a couple places is the srm-6 does 2 per missile, but I was seeing a stream of 8s coming off my shadow hawk as it was being shot by an srm carrier.
you can hover over any weapon and see the damage numbers. standard SRM is 8 per missile.
Damge is usually between 4 to 10 (AC 5 ) times more then the base game. I think it is usually 5 times more.
